cordinate plane
by:Gabriela Castro Correa
the plane determinated by a horizontal
number line called the x-axis, and a
vertical number line called y-axis intersecting
at a point called the origin.
what is a coordinate plane?
coordinate plane is divide in 4 cuadrants
first:
identify the coordinates
how to plot a point in the coordinate plane
graphical example
ex:
A=(4,2) here the 4=x and 2=y
everytime x is the first number
ex:
B= (-3,-5) -3=x and -5=y
slopes
a slope is a rate of change that shows how many time it take something to dcrease or increase .
4 types of slopes
postive slope (when lines go uphill from left to right)
negative slope (when lines go downhill from left to right)
zero slope (when lines are horizontal)
undefined slope (when lines are vertical)
example:
how to find a slope !
to find a slope you take the 2 points of a line and you do this operation y2-y1/x2-x1
example:
(2,10),(6,12)
2=x1,10=y1,6=x2 ,12=y2
12-10/6-2=
2/4
ANOTHER WAY!
ANOTHER WAY TO FIND SLOPE IS COUNTIG UNITS!
MAKE A TRIANGLE BETWEEN 2 ORDERED PAIRS. COUNT THE UNITS AND REPRESENT IT AS A FRACTION (RISE/RUN)
3/1
Y-INTERCEPT
y=mx+b
if m=3 and b=4
the equation would be:
y=3x+4
example:
finding x- and y-intercepts
step 1:
to find the x- intercept,
substitute 0 for y and
solve for x.
step 2
step 2
to find the y-intercept
substitute 0 for x and
solve for x.
3x+4y=8
3x+4(0)=8
3x=8
x=8/3
3(0)+4y=8
4y=8
y=8/4
y=2
point-slope form
m(x-x0)=y-y0
formula
:
example
slope: 2
M=2
(4,10)
2(x-4)y-10
2x-8=y-10
2x-8+10=y
2x+2=y
standard form:
2x-y=-2
mx+b=y

conclusions:
* i improve my skills in math becasuse
i study more than ever to maka this presentation.
* i improve my skills in technology now i
make good presentation in prezi and i meet
Geogebra.
*i really like this project because it have 3 different main programs Paint,Geogebra,Prezi.
*i learn how i can use this topics for my whole life.
thank you!
