Managers, designers, production, purchasing and logistics staffs in the furniture sector have skills gaps that don't allow them to respond properly to the new sustainable products demand.
ECO4VET aims to identify these eco-skills gaps, to develop tools and methods for training furniture staff in “Ecodesign and Sustainable production” and to implement them through pilot training courses.
Project results include an adapted furniture sector-specific joint curriculum, taking into account European transparency tools and
principles like ECVET (European Credit System for VET) and EQAVET European Quality Assurance in VET) and according to EQF (European Qualifications Profile).
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This document reflects the views only of the author, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
There is an increasing social and market demand for using more environmentally friendly materials and processes in the furniture sector.
Ecodesign responds to this demand developing products and processes that reduce energy supply needs and minimize emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants and aims at improving the energy and environmental performance of products throughout their entire life cycle (raw material selection and use, manufacturing, packaging, transport and distribution, installation and maintenance, use, end-of-life) by systematically integrating environmental aspects at the earliest stage of product design.
