The Great depression what where the major causes? biggest cause was the stock market crash. many believe that the black tuesday many believe that black tuesday stock market crash was the main cause of the great depression. In fact, not all historians and economists even agree about them However, there is no denying that the Great Depression had a huge impact on the United States and the world Throughout the 1930s over 9,000 banks failed. Bank deposits were uninsured and thus as banks failed people simply lost their savings. Surviving banks, unsure of the economic situation and concerned for their own survival, stopped being as willing to create new loans. This exacerbated the situation leading to less and less expenditures 9000 banks fail in 1930, 1932 waves As businesses began failing, the government created the Smoot-Hawley Tariff in 1930 to help protect American companies. This charged a high tax for imports thereby leading to less trade between America and foreign countries along with some economic retaliation. people invested in money they didnt even had. questions i asked.

The major recovery was the war, my question is we have money to build planes but
