school) What do people do as Dentist? •Diagnose and treat problems with teeth and tissues in the mouth They give advice on diet, brushing, flossing, uses of flourides and adminster care to help prevent future problems They also extract teeth and make models and measurements for dentures to replace missing teeth. They adminster anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and medications. Aptitudes and Abilities Must have good communication skills, to be able to explain the procedure and problem, in a calming voice. Keen eyes (Know what is wrong with patients mouth. Normal working hours 7-9 hours average Work in office environment, and
usually has a small staff. Salary
130,000+/- Outlook
Employment for Dentist is expected to grow by 16 percent through 2018. Education and training requirements High School and College students need to take courses in biology, chemistry, physics, health, and mathematics. Dental school lasts 4 years academic years. It starts with laboratory work in science, anatomy, microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology. other courses include clinica science, and laboratory techniques. Finally the last 2 years, students treat patients, usually in dental clinics. All dental schools require
Dental Adminissions TEst (DAT). Science skills, math skills, to help
during their career. Such as how much
medicine to give somebody, and science
skills for mixing solutions for molds.
