Capital Punishment:
By jacob heller Introduction thesis statement: Capital punishment is not just and does not abid with the most basic human rights capital punishment is also known as the death penalty, and is sentenced to criminals who have committed serious felonies. There is controversy about capital punishment, on whether it should be legal or not, because some people think that it is necessary to punish some criminals with death, i do not agree with this WHY IT'S WRONG THE DEATH PENALTY IS BASICALLY STATE-SANCTIONED KILLING, WHICH DEVALUES THE RESPECT WE PLACE ON HUMAN LIFE.
IT CAN ALSO BE AFFECTED BY FACTORS LIKE RACIAL/SOCIAL BIAS, MENTAL INCOMPETENCE, AND THE PROVEN RISK OF EXECUTING INNOCENT PEOPLE. AT LEAST 23 INNOCENT PEOPLE WERE EXECUTED DURING THE 20TH CENTURY IN THE US ALONE. THE AVOIDABLE KILLING OF AN INNOCENT PERSON IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. brief history the death penalty has been around forever, but no one knows who originally legalized it in any situation. PRIMITIVE METHODS USED WERE THE BREAKING WHEEL, CRUCIFIXION, AND DECAPITATION. ALL OF THESE METHODS WERE BRUTISH AND RATHER HORRIBLE TO WATCH sOME FAMOUS PEOPLE THAT WERE VICTIMS OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT WERE AUGUSTE VAILLANT, LING CHI, A LOT OF RELIGIOUS LEADERS, AND JESUS HIMSELF. WHAT WE CAN DO MY SOLUTION IS TO EITHER ILLEGALIZE THE DEATH PENALTY ALTOGETHER, OR SEEK BETTER CRIME-PREVENTION METHODS
BY EXECUTING CRIMINALS, YOU ARE RULING OUT THE POSSIBLILTY OF REHABILITATION-THAT THEY MAY REPENT OF THEIR CRIME, SERVE A SENTENCE AS PUNISHMENT, AND EMERGE AS A REFORMED AND USEFUL MEMBER OF SOCIETY
ALSO, JAIL SENTENCES COST AROUND 500,000 DOLLARS, WHILE EXECUTION CAN COST FROM 1 TO 3 MILLION DOLLARS IN CONCLUSION... CAPITAL PUNISHMENT IS MORALLY UNJUST, BRUTISH, UNRELIABLE, DETRIMENTAL, AND COSTLY. IN ORDER TO MAKE THE US TRULY A LAND OF JUSTICE AND LIBERTY, WE MUST CHANGE OUR OUTLOOK AND ACCEPT BETTER METHODS OF DEALING WITH CRIME.
