Factors for Ignorance
Why do they prefer this way?
"Ava's Domestic Violence Story"-Hidden Hurt

Seeing "The Light"
The freed prisoner goes out of the cave into the daylight.
His eyes hurt from the sun.
The freed prisoner is able to look at shadows.
The freed prisoner is able to see images of people and reflections of other things in water.
The prisoner could see things much more differently, more directly, more clearly.
Part 3
The Prisoner Returns to the Cave
The prisoner returned with eyes filled of darkness
He tries to influence other prisoners
Would they kill him?
Connection to "Domestic Violence"
Part One: The Cave and the Fire
Plato wanted to answer questions about the nature of reality from 2 viewpoints.
What you see and hear is a persons reality.
What is a persons true reality.
There were men chained in a cave who only believed what was in front of them.
They saw shadows on a wall from a fire of items behind them.
One gets free and finds out what they see is only shadows.
The freed prisoner offered to unchain the others and show them what their true reality is like but they don't want to change their lives.
They didn't believe him that they only see shadows.
The man who is free tries to prove to the other the true reality but they still don't believe him.
Part 2
Three Stages of Liberation
Freedom Stage One
Part 2
Three Stages of Liberation
Freedom Stage Two

The prisoner gets unchained and didn't know what to do.
He started to look around and saw the fire.
The fire hurt his eyes when he looked at it.
The prisoner realized that the objects on the walls were just shadows.
What is domestic violence?
Many can relate to domestic violence
It is an extreme case in society today
"1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence"-(Safehorizon)
Could this happen to you?
"Why Do People Stay in Abusive Relationships? – Www.loveisrespect.org." Wwwloveisrespectorg. Ed. May Kayl. Love Is Respect, 12 Apr. 2014. Web. 26 Oct. 2015.
"Myths & Facts about Domestic Violence | Domestic Violence Intervention Program." Domestic Violence Intervention Program. Domestic Violence Intervention Program, 13 June 2014. Web. 26 Oct. 2015.
The freed prisoner looks at the sun and thinks about if it is real or a reflection in the water.
The freed prisoner understand what the sun controls like the seasons and daylight.
The freed prisoner thinks if he should stays with those in the cave or go out on his own and live on the land.
The freed prisoner chooses to be free.
Chains of Ignorance
The Shadows On The Wall
The shadows on the wall represent a false reality.
The "shadows" of Domestic Violence would be the person being abused believing the abuser loves them
This is their false reality.
Seeing "The Light" is escaping the relationship
What happens after leaving the relationship?
How did Ava feel after leaving her abuser?
Part 2
Three Stages of Liberation
Freedom Stage Three
The Sun
The Return to "The Cave"
What is the cave?=In abusive relationship
What are these peoples ignorance?
How and why are they in disbelief?
Why do the victims stay in these relationships?
When these people are removed they feel free
There is a sense of relief
They tend to stay away from relationships
They thank people for helping them
They apologize
Relates to domestic violence in variety of ways
Amazes me how this story is still relative today
Plato was very advanced for his time
His story can be interpreted to mean what you want it to
