by: Emily Kopstein Deer Over population? Our region is terribly overpopulated with deer. Most people think of deer as harmless and adorable creatures, just wandering about the earth, which they are. However, they also spread many dangerous diseases. In fact, Fairfield county takes in more than $170 million per year in health care or health insurance. Most people in Fairfield county get health care just to protect themselves from the disease deer spread! Deer spread diseases such Lyme disease, and tick-borne. Citizens also need need to get car repairs due to deer running in the middle of streets. and a lot dont have car insurance! please watch! please watch this power-point presentation! why? the Reason that deer are over populated is because hunting down the deer has stopped. Although this is a grand input, it is also devastating to some, who got infected with the diseases. The state of Connecticut is trying to figure out a way to protect the citizens from these harmful diseases, without damaging the deer's population.
