Transcript of Introduction

My name is Adebimpe Odunjo.
I am driven by a passion to know more and to improve my craft.

HELLO!
Personal Mission Statements

I want to learn with and from my students
Education should not be constrained by conventional hours or physical boundaries.
Learning should be meaningful and useful.
Learning should be personalized to meet the needs of the learner.
I believe that excellence in education is derived from practicing a small set of principles over a long period of time and that success is embracing common sense with uncommon levels of discipline and persistence.

Most teacher leaders demonstrate these traits as do most people in general, but what distinguishes the leaders from the followers is the ‘sticktoitiveness’ of a leader..
I teach using a variety of tools

I have known Adebimpe Odunjo for many years and attest to her interest, dedication and diligence in pursuing the highest level of accomplishment in the field of education. I believe she has the qualities to be an effective educator based on her background as a classroom teacher and through her Doctoral Work at Southern Mississippi University. In addition to traditional teaching methods, I have been privy to online professional development courses she designed (I supervised a project on courseware design from her for my company) and a thoughtful and methodical approach was apparent.

Her other interests are also telling of her dedication: moved by what she considered gaps in teaching skills she founded a consulting firm (The Universal Teacher, LLC), with the objective of direct intervention with teachers to improve teacher leadership, teacher preparation and instructional practice with a view to increasing student achievement. Her Doctoral work also challenged accepted norms and status quo beliefs about pedagogical methods, and her work has been considered for inclusion in school reform initiatives. I believe that these experiences makes a better Educator; one who has been “out there”, is dedicated to the field and has stayed engaged in trends and developments in her field to consistently assure relevance and quality in her work.

Without any hesitation or reservation, I recommend Dr. Adebimpe Odunjo, as a valuable addition to your faculty. She will serve you well.

Recommendation
• You utilize an impressive number of announcements in your classroom, which demonstrates your high level of support and commitment to your students. This also contributes to a high level of engagement!
• You demonstrate the use of digital tools (videos and suggestions of other digital tools like Prezi) to support your expectations for students – this is excellent modeling of ways in which one can creatively share information – well done!
• You encourage students to think deeper and more critically, excellent tone and presence in the classroom!

• Weekly Guidance demonstrates the use of PowerPoint and engaging images which enhance visual appeal – well done!
• In Week 2, you share a personal story about your daughter which relates to course topics and objectives. This helps students find the content relatable and encourages them to make connections to real-world example.
• You do a strong job with your instructor elaboration in your guidance. Excellent work

You do an excellent job customizing your response and asking critical thinking questions.
• You ask students to elaborate on their ideas when they do not provide sufficient supporting detail in their response – this demonstrates high expectations for student thinking.
• You do a nice job using individual names in the discussion as this serves to enhance relationships and the feeling of connectedness to your students.

• You make effective use of the Waypoint Rubric for assignments and you provide ample amounts of additional individualized feedback as well. You do a tremendous job in your feedback to students – this feedback will help them achieve their academic goals!
• You hold your students accountable for academic dishonesty, check papers through turn it in, and handle the situation professionally.
• You provide a balance of both content-based and grammar-based comments as you review student work so that students have clear next steps for how to develop in both areas. Excellent work!

“Just do it” is the trademark slogan for NIKE, Inc.

You have to do what you should do even when you do not feel like it. You have to discipline the mind and body.

Motive : Discipline

Even when you don't feel like it
- “Just do it!”

Conclusion

If you consistently do the same thing, you will always get the same results.
Success is personal...so is the desire to succeed

Footprints

Diligence: Starting is only half the battle. You must consistently attend to and with determination endure till the task is complete.

Motive : Diligence

You must want to succeed. The need to succeed is equal to the need to breathe...that's desire.

Success is Personal

To Decide is to determine what you must do to fulfill your goals.
To Choose is to select your preference based on options that may be good or bad.
The first step is to decipher who you are: A Decision Maker or a Chooser?

Choose or Decide

The moment you stop thinking positively, death is accelerated (physical, mental and emotional).

Your attitude determines if your next steps will be an ordeal or an adventure.

State of Mind

Every waking moment of life there is a lesson to learn.
What you decide or how you choose to react/respond to that lesson will determine the next event(s) in your life.
