What is abuse?
Why should a Social Worker be respected?
A Social Worker should be respected because they have the child's best interest at heart.
How can you prevent/react to abuse?
When responding to abuse, you should take the 5 following steps:
1) Protect the person who has experienced abuse, keep them safe and explain to the individual that it is not their fault.
2) Preserve and record the evidence. For example take notes and photos.
3) Report the incident immediately.
4)Support the abused person, such as providing counseling.
5) If necessary, take the matter further. Who to contact next all depends on what type of matter it is and what has happened already.

A social worker is most likely to be subjected to verbal and physical abuse. Not only from the parents, but also from the child who the social worker is trying to protect and help.
