Transcript of The Travels of A. Virus

THE
OF
,
My name is A. Virus, and I am here to document my travels around a whole spectrum of hosts. This Prezi is something that I put together so that I could share my experiences with my peers. So come, join me!
me!
First, I started in southern Africa,
where there is a lot of dry brush
and short trees, perfect for finding
my preferred mode of transportation:
the mosquito.
Here little mosquito...
After looking around
some fairly unsanitary
areas where it was very
humid, I finally attached myself
to an unknowing mosquito by
burrowing myself inside its intestinal
wall. I know, sounds kind of gross, but it's
actually pretty comfy.
malaria
malaria
I traveled for five hours to Sudan, one of the more common places for infectious diseases like me. Some of my friends, malaria, yellow fever, cholera, and meningitis like to congregate there.
My mosquito dropped me off in a
nice, healthy human. I was injected into its
bloodstream and immediately started to work on the
cell walls, changing them to keep myself
hidden.
sleeping sickness
After a while, my human was infected with
me, and began coughing. I was flung into the air and
landed on yet on another person, this time on its
mouth and nose.
SARS
This time, I attached myself to a
single cell of the intestinal lining.
polio
I placed myself on the PVR, or bridge of the cell and waited for
it to move in so I could go to the nucleus. For some reason,
the times are always delayed. Must be busy this time of year.

The PVR finally moved in after some encouragement,
and I took over the cell. I made a couple copies of myself
so I could work faster. I really wanted to get moving again
after such a long wait.
Before I knew it, I was out
and moving again,
only this time I landed in
someone's tea. I had a
nice, relaxing, soak before
an unsuspecting
human picked up the mug
and drank me up.
I sent a postcard
home while I waited
for the tsetse fly
to come.
polio and cholera
sleeping sickness
The tsetse fly bit the human and I traveled to Mali, where I would be able to find many polio victims for my last day in Southern Africa.
I targeted the spinal cord's
meninges, and made myself
comfortable.
meningitis
Weirdly enough, the human
I was in started to pack for his annual
pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. Something
about the Hajj?
Ah. This is where my travels stop now. My visit to Saudi Arabia will
have to be saved for another time and place. Hopefully you have enjoyed this little glimpse of my travels as a virus. Good-bye for now!
