Respiratory System What's it purpose? what does it consist of? DISEASES!!!! How to keep it healthy Funfacts How does it work with other systems? Supplys the cells with oxygen to the enitre body! Oxygen is supplied to the blood by breathing through inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dixiode. The respiratory system consists of the nose, and mouth were oxygen passes threw the lungs. Then oxygen is divided into smaller tubes that connect to alveoli which are tiny sacks that allows oxygen to diffuse into the arerial blood. Waste-rich blood releases carbon dioxide into the alveoli and back out through the nose and mouth when exhaling Asthma Lung Cancer Pheumonia Don't smoke Exercize Balanced diet Medical Check-ups An average adults lungs can hold up to 6 liters of air human lungs have approximately 1500 miles of aiways. Eating too fast can be a common cause for hiccups People yawn because the brainb detects low amounts of oxygen in the lungs so the body triggers a response so the body will intae a large amount of oxygen. A person a can breathe an equivilant of 13 pints a minute. The right lung is larger than the left lung to accomadate the heart. The respiratory system supplies oxygen to the the blood so that It can allow the other systems to work properly. With out it, the body would not be able to function because there would be no oxygen. It's and inflammation or infection of the lungs most commonly caused by a bacteria or virus. Its an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cell in the lungs Its a herditary disease that can hamper a persons ability to breathe. Inflammation and swelling happen in the airways. Epiglottis a flap that covers the entrance to your trachea when you swallow Trachea is a tube where air moves to the bronchi and lungs The bronchi are two tubes in which air moves to the lungs Bronchioles are small tubes that branch to form the aveoli. Picture of Respiratory system Our game Can be caused by inhaling vomit or other foreign substances. The pus and mucus in the lungs and all the other liquids cannot function properly! Then oxygen cant reach the blood and the cells of the body Treated with antibotics Since the lungs are so large the tumors can go unnoticed for years They cause the lung to not function properly To treat the cancer they can surgically remove the tumor or they can give you a certain drug to eat away at the tumor and use a laser to get any pieces keft behind
