Who is Gandhi?
Gandhi was a hugely influential leader of the Indian nationalist movement against British rule that led India to independence
"An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind"

What did he do?
He led a non-violence revolution in India that gave India independence from Britain
Inspired the Indian people that independence can be accomplished without having to kill and influenced them that British were evil
He went on multiple hunger strikes to end violence
He led a salt march to the sea to declare that India would no longer trade salt with Britain
Important Dates in Gandhi's life
Born October 2nd 1869
He got a job at a law firm in India 1893
Had developed a devotion to the truth 1914
He became a dominant figure in Indian Politics 1920
He was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment 1922
He was US "Man of the year" 1930
He achieved India's Independence August 15th 1947
He was assassinated January 30th 1948

The lesson he wanted to get across:
Peaceful resistance can be effective in creating change
His goal:
To get people to take the path of non-violence
