Compact Sedan Force = Earth on Car or Gravity Force=
Ground on Car Force=
Ground on car FORCES It's The Law! So how does each of Newton's laws apply to these cars? 1st Law 2nd Law 3rd Law An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object). For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action. The mousetrap car starts at rest right? So by Newton's law it should stay there correct? No. The trap is pulling the string which is moving the car which makes a pushing(or pulling) force from the ground which makes it forward. So with the 2nd law, if we say the car is the mass, what is the forcing acting on it? The trap right? Wrong! It's the ground that is forcing on the car making it go. The action is the mousetrap pulling the string which is wrapped around the axle, and the reaction is that the car moves forward. Hooke's Law I have a law??
