in The Goblet of Fire By Brian Weber Our Hero's Journey begins in the very familiar Hogwarts. The simple world that Harry and friends have grown to call home. During the opening feast Dumbledore announces that they will be hosting the Tri-Wizard Tournament, a competition with dangerous challenge and great honor. THE ORDINARY WORLD. The hero, uneasy, uncomfortable or unaware, is introduced sympathetically so the audience can identify with the situation or dilemma. The hero is shown against a background of environment, heredity, and personal history. Some kind of polarity in the hero’s life is pulling in different directions and causing stress. THE CALL TO ADVENTURE. Something shakes up the situation, either from external pressures or from something rising up from deep within, so the hero must face the beginnings of change. THE REFUSAL. The hero feels the fear of the unknown and tries to turn away from the adventure, however briefly. Alternately, another character may express the uncertainty and danger ahead. MEETING WITH THE MENTOR. The hero comes across a seasoned traveler of the worlds who gives him or her training, equipment, or advice that will help on the journey. Or the hero reaches within to a source of courage and wisdom. CROSSING THE THRESHOLD. At the end of Act One, the hero commits to leaving the Ordinary World and entering a new region or condition with unfamiliar rules and values. TESTS, ALLIES AND ENEMIES. The hero is tested and sorts out allegiances in the Special World. APPROACH. The hero and newfound allies prepare for the major challenge in the Special world. THE SUPREME ORDEAL. The hero enters a central space in the Special World and confronts death or faces his or her greatest fear. Out of the moment of death comes a new life. THE REWARD. The hero takes possession of the treasure won by facing death. There may be celebration, but there is also danger of losing the treasure again. THE ROAD BACK. The hero is driven to complete the adventure, leaving the Special World to be sure the treasure is brought home. Often a chase scene signals the urgency and danger of the mission.` THE RESURRECTION. At the climax, the hero is severely tested once more on the threshold of home. He or she is purified by a last sacrifice, another moment of death and rebirth, but on a higher and more complete level. By the hero’s action, the polarities that were in conflict at the beginning are finally resolved. RETURN WITH THE ELIXIR. The hero returns home or continues the journey, bearing some element of the treasure that has the power to transform the world as the hero has been transformed Dumbledore had set a rule that you must be 17 to enter the Tri-Wizard Tournament. At the drawing to see which students would be representing each of the three schools there was a situation. After the three students had been selected, one from each school, there was another name drawn from the goblet of fire, a four champion; Harry Potter. This is the call, Harry is called to compete in the Tri-Wizard tournament. Harries mentor in this movie is Mad-eye Moody. Moody is the one that gives him advice and helps him through the Tournament. As soon as Harry is chosen he can't believe that his name has been called to be a champion. He did not enter his own name and never asked anyone to do so. He does not have time to deny the accusations, but you can tell from his body language that he does not want to accept the call. The First Threshold is the Hall of Champions. This is the room where the Champions assemble after being selected. This is the First step of the tournament it is where Harry is told that because his name was selected from the Goblet of Fire he must compete. This is where Harry goes from his comfortable Ordinary World of Hogwarts, to The Special World of the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Our Hero's first challenge is to take an egg that is being guarded by a dragon. Before the competition harry is told through his friends that to meet Hagrid in the woods with his invisibility cloak and he is showed the dragons. After this Moody helps Harry develop a strategy to fight the dragon. Harry also decides to tell Cedric Diggory about the dragon because they are from the same school. This is where Harry and Cedric start to become allies. Dragons For the Second Challenge the Champions must decode the message that is inside the egg they captured from the dragon. At first the when the egg is opened it makes a loud sketching noise. Cedric comes to harry and tells him to take the egg to the prefects bathroom and relax in the bath. Once in the bathroom he is told by Moaning Myrtle that Cedric opened the egg underwater. Here he learns that something will be taken from him and that he will need to take it make from the Mermaids. He is helped by his friends to find away to breath underwater so that he can find what needs to be recovered. Harry is the first to find his treasure underwater and sees that it is his friend Ron. also under the water is Choe, his crush, Hermione, his a close friend, and a girl. He is caught in a dilemma because he wants to free everyone. Two of his friends are rescued but there is still the girl left. So he frees Ron and then tries to free the girl as well, but the Merrfolk will not let him take more than one. He gets freed and brought to safety and is given second place for his decision to do the right thing. Mermaids The Last Challenge in the Tri-Wizard Tournament is a dark Hedge Maze. The Champions are to work their way though the Maze and find the Tri-Wizard cup. First to reach the cup is the winner. Victor Krum, one of the competetors has been cursed and is eliminating the other champions. Harry saves Cedric Diggory from Krum and then they see the Cup. The both run for the cup and Harry saves Cedric from the hedges. They decide to grab the cup at the same time and both be champions. The Hedge Maze As Harry and his allie, Cedric, Grab the Tri-Wizard Cup they are taken to a far of graveyard. Here they are confused as to where they are. A man comes out of a house holding something. This thing tells him to kill the extra. The man kills Cedric with the killing curse. It is in the Graveyard that Harry confronts is biggest enemy of all, Lord Voldemort. He is part of and witness to the rebirth of Voldemort and sees Death Eaters assemble. Harry is set to duel Voldemort, it is here that he faces the torture curse and is fighting for his life. During the battle Harry tries to expel Voldemort wand as Voldemort tries to kill Harry. During this sequence, because their wands are brothers, there is a cloud and Harry sees his parents and Cedric. They tell him to get to the port key, the Cup, and get out of there. Cedric asks for his body to be brought back. So when they cloud is gone he as a brief second to get to Cedric, grab the cup, and then he is taken back to the finale of the competition. So when they cloud is gone Harry as a brief second to get to Cedric, grab the cup, and then he is taken back to the finale of the competition. When Harry returns he is taken to Moody's office and he is asked a bunch of questions about things that Harry had never even mentioned. "What was it like to be in his presence?" It is shortly after that that Dumbledore and Snape barge into the office and reveal that this is not Moody after all, it is an imposter under the influence of a potion. Now that Harry has returned it is back to his everyday world, almost. He now realizes that Voldemort is back to full force and it is going to be his duty to help challenge him and return the magic world back to peace and harmony Harry's Reward is Getting to see his Parents.
