3-D films became more and more successful throughout the 2000s , ended in the unprecedented success of 3-D presentations of Avatar in December 2009 and January 2010.

enjoy and experience more.

Do not require a 3D monitor, only need a simple 3D glasses.

Mainly in music videos or some action video.

Let the audience experience the new
type of video.

The technology effectively increased

Enhancing the depth perception, sharpness, naturalness, sense of presence(reality) are the main benefits.

Color Anaglyph
The film broke several box office records and became the highest-grossing film, surpassing Titanic, which had held those records for twelve years (and was also directed by Cameron)
The first film to gross more than $2 billion
Viewed through filters of the same colour, one to each eye,it gives rise to the perception of depth
Two superimposed and laterally displaced drawings or photographs of the same scene but taken from two directions and in complementary colours (usually red and green).
Advantages of Anaglyph
Any digital projector and monitor can show anaglyphs.
Red - Cyan stereoscopic glasses are common and cheap,even can be DIY.
Can be used in comics and newspaper
Disadvantage of anaglygh
Wrong colours.-The colour will never be right as each eye is getting only part of the RGB colour range.
Wearing the glasses may cause headache to some people
Polarized 3D
This technology is widely used in Hong Kong's cinema
uses polarization glasses to restrict the light that reaches each eye
each eye sees a different image.
Produce a three-dimensional effect by projecting the same scene into both eyes, but depicted from slightly different perspectives.
Advantage of Polarized 3D
Parallax barrier
A parallax barrier is a device placed in front of an image source
allow it to show a 3D image without the need for the viewer to wear any types of glasses.
-> glassless 3D.
The device consists of a layer of material with a series of precision slits
allowing each eye to see a different set of pixels to create a sense of depth through parallax

Basic principle of 3D
-Faking the brain

-When viewing a object,the brain interprets what the left and right eyes see to assess the relative distances from the viewer, and the depth dimension

-3D technology is the production of the illusion of depth in a photograph, movie, or other two-dimensional image by presenting a slightly different image to each eye.
