Transcript of MEADOWCROFT, Chloe - The Internet

Chloe Meadowcroft 6E !
In 1989, Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web
The internet was invented by researchers when they created a 'Network of Networks' in 1983. This became what we now know as the internet.
The internet is a large database-like, wifi-linked communication and research service. It has almost everything on it somewhere!
People make websites for their interests and hobbies, as well as to help others with their research. To make a website you need a URL, or domain name like 'www.wikipedia.com'
Search engines, like Google and Ask Jeeves are used so you can look things up on the internet. You can either type in the URL of a website you know, or you can search for one on a search engine.
