YouTube was founded in 2005 and is now one of the most popular video sharing websites today. Bought out by Google in 2006 it has been a fun, free and easy way to view a number of videos from all over the world.
With libraries moving towards more digital resources by using online networking sites, blogs RSS feeds and of course using YouTube to promote the use of the library
and its services.
Use in Libraries
Maintenance of special materials e.g. pop up books
Searching databases & other library resources
& Promotional videos
Some of the videos were interesting and informative as well
as visually intriguing but some lacked pizzazz!
You can use YouTube for a range of different things you just need to be imaginative and creative
to produce informative videos on interesting library services
Such as. . .
Creating videos of new books & other materials your library has received within the past few weeks or months
Videos to promote library activities/programs which could feature links to the libraries website for more info
Promoting fundraisers and functions within the library
FAQ's and tutorials for library equipment and resources, which could be used by new staff members as well as students.
Library orientation videos

There could also be videos produced for specific library tasks that may need to be explained
every now and again to new staff members or just used as a reminder.
Preservation and repair information could
also be videoed and made available for staff.
Orientation videos and video tours of the library and other important features of the
