The Eiffel Tower
Transcript of The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is the main attraction of Paris and in this para, you will learn where, who, when, and why the Eiffel tower was made.
Well, it was made to be the center attraction, for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution and to demonstrate France's industrial prowess to the world. It was to be presented at the Word Fair -or the Paris Exposition.
Gustave Eiffel is credited in name of the Eiffel tower, but Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nougier were the ones who drafted the original blueprints, of the famous monument.
Building the Monument
The most amazing mysteries of the Eiffel Tower is how it was built. Well, in the following para you will learn how the famous monument was constructed.
Each of the 18,000 pieces that were used to make the Eiffel tower were designed, and made specifically for it at Gustave's Factory. The base foundation has 4 legs, set on masonry piers that are curved inward until they meet at a astonishing height.
Building the Eiffel Tower required 2.5 million rivets and 7,300 tons of iron. To protect the tower from the elements, they had to paint the whole structure from top to bottom, with 60 tons of paint.
MY 3D Model
My 3D model of the Eiffel Tower is made from a 3D pen. The two different types of 3D pens I used are the 3D doodler and the 3D pen-2. It took me about 1 week to make it and I spent about 30 minutes each day. I have actually been to the Eiffel Tower and have been to the very top. Mine has broke many a times because of my naughty little brother. My aunt gave me the 3D doodler and my mom and dad got me the 3D pen-2.
The Eiffel Tower is 300 meters (984 ft.) in height, without the antenna, and was the tallest man made monument for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York was made.
The height of Eiffel Tower alters, depending on the temperature, up to 6 inches.
The french name of the Eiffel Tower is La Tour Eiffel, it is also called the La dame de fer which is french for the Iron Lady.
The tower weighs up to 10,000 tonnes!!!!!!!!
There are 3 platforms. The first one is 190 feet above the ground; the second platform is 376 feet above, and the third floor is almost 900 feet up.
The tower has 108 stories and has a total 1,710 steps. Though, visitors can only use the stairs up to the first floor. Then you have to use the elevators.
One elevators travels a total of 64,001 miles (103,000 kilometers) every year.
