Often American and International students comment on how safe the campus community is to live, work, and learn. Throughout campus there are several security/safety measures in place.

They include:
Blue light systems: outdoor emergency call boxes across campus
Metis Secure Solutions emergency callbox security systems installed in all buildings on campus
Well lit parking lots and roads throughout campus
University police escort system to provide safe passage on campus upon request

SRU also alerts our campus community through postings in residence halls, public bulletin boards, entrances to campus buildings and electronic communication directly to community members who register for text-alerts.
