Why is this topic important to Early Childhood Education?
Every day a child heres music of some sort. There body reacts! This morning I turned on the Trolls Sound Track in my house and my daughter just started jumping and moving her arms with a smile. Music has a positive impact on children, of many ages some adults even.
Why is this Topic Important to Me?
From 2009 to 2011 I was a K-12 Music Education Major at Grand Rapids Community College Minoring in Trumpet Performance. I discovered there through volunteering at numerous schools that Children thrived with music; more so when their home lives were not as stable. Music gave them a stable, and predictable outlet.

Instrument Ideas
- Mixing Spoons: These are great to strike things lightly. Can be used As drumsticks or hit them together as beat sticks.
- Milk Jugs: (best if it’s a half gallon, pop bottles work too)fill up with beads dried beans, noodles to make a shaker.
- Water glasses: Take multiple glasses and fill them up with varying amounts of water. Then lightly tap the jars with measuring spoon and you have a xylophone.
- Pocket Comb: fold a piece of tissue paper over the tooth edge of the comb. All you have to do is hum through the tissue paper.
