Diggs, Stumbles & More! Almost all messages should include a link Beware of Retweet size! When twitter adds the RT symbol to the message it could cut off the URL! Twitter is designed to be a bit casual and laid-back. We can expect higher click-thrus when the message is written in a casual and friendly tone. s S-Simple. Simplicity isn’t about dumbing down, it’s about prioritizing. What is the core message? Can you communicate it with an analogy? U-Unexpected. To get attention violate a commonly held belief schema or curiosity gap. (What are Saturn’s rings made of?) Before the message can stick, that audience has to want it. C-Concrete. To be concrete, use sensory language, paint a mental picture if possible (JFK’s “Man on the Moon” Speech) C-Credible. Use human scale statistics or vivid details. E-Emotional. People care about people, not numbers. Lock into identity appeals (New Jersey: Only the Strong Survive or Don’t Mess With Texas) more often that “What’s in it for me?” S-Stories. Imagine how an existing problem will change. Think of Jared from Subway, visual story of how eating subs allowed him to lose so much weight.
