The voyage Queen Elizabeth I was the one who sent him on this voyage Sir Frances Drake became a ships sailer (The Golden Hind) leading many expeditions Who went with him? What happened on the voyage? He continuesd North along the Pacific coast of North America, then he decided to turn south to repair his ship. He was in what is now called San Franciso and he named the new area New Albion. He claimed this new land for England. Drake wanted to return to England through the Strait of Magellan and not sail around the world again. He feared another attack from the Spanish if he sailed south again, so instead he sailed home by way of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. After The expedition The End of The Voyage Drake had been out at sea for close to 3 years and this voyage still today has made him an international hero 21,000 people died in all 1,500 were killed in battle 6,000 died in Ireland through shipwreck,disease,murder,and starvation Queen Elizabeth I
