The Northern Renaissance Michael Roach Theater One of, if not the most prolific playwrights in history, William Shakespeare, came out of the renaissance Many plays from the Northern Renaissance focused on Humanist ideas that relied on human attributes rather than those of Gods Many plays done in the Globe Theater.
Intermezzi was one of the first form of modern "musicals." William Shakespeare Wrote 37 plays, 154 sonnets and 2 long poems.

His actual existence is in question, many believe him to be a fake name. Famous plays include Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Macbeth. Queen pressed theater to bring Catholics and Protestants together. Music Northern Renaissance music is very bouncy, alive and waltzy. In the early renaissance, music was mostly polyphonic (several simultaneous melodies) that were generally masses or motets made for the church. Some large orchestral pieces were made, including many lutist pieces.

Famous composers include Claudio Monteverdi, Du Fay and De Prez Many of these works during this time were exclusively for the high class and very few middle-low class were able to hear it. Contributions of the Northern Renaissance The organ Polyphony Viola De Gamba Music became more of an art than it was before. Physical Sciences Science and art were highly intermingled. Many elements of science were used to benefit the arts. Whether it was developing tools to build larger sculptures or using nature to embellish a piece. One of the most prolific artists/scientists/inventors of the time is Leonardo Da Vinci. He invented, and set the base idea for the creation of many things, such as the flying machine.
