Paramedics are part of the NHS service to help service users in servere cases. They are medically trained to perform emergency first aid , but are not fully qualified to be a doctor.
What are paramedics ?
Paramedics are on call 24/7 to help service users all across the globe. Some service users except the care of the paramedics and are grateful for what they do. Others refuse treatment, make racist remarks and make rape claims, because the paramedics have touched them to try to help them.
Abuse to paramedics
Almost 70% of paramedics reported experiencing some form of abuse whether it would be verbal of physical in the last 12 months.
Paramedics recieve very little self defense training.
Reasons why this abuse happens.
Drugs or alcohol influnced
Altered mental state
Generally angry patients
to this abuse
Puplic officers and police officers have the right to charge someone if abuse is caused to them. One way to reduce abuse to paramedics is to give them this right aswell.
Another solution may be to give the abuser a sedation drug if the abuser gets violent towards the Paramedic. This will then insure they get the right treatment without any harm being caused to the paramedic.
