  1. Hi, everybody in Alton Hospice.
  2. It's Laura Machar today to talk to you about your
  3. patient experience Scores for the month of October.
  4. Let's look at your map.
  5. So here's your current state map.
  6. Your target has gone to 89.62 for the month for
  7. the year of fiscal Year of 21 which started this
  8. month, and your current scores 71.7.
  9. So you had a little bit of a drop there
  10. in October.
  11. But I know that you guys will bring that back
  12. up. I've noticed if you will notice across the continuum,
  13. you have just you continue up and then you had
  14. to drop down in June.
  15. And I think that's when you know, Cove it was
  16. at its and speak for us in the first wave
  17. and then it moved back up against you.
  18. Guys worked really hard to get those scores up.
  19. You've had a little drop again and again.
  20. We're in the second wave, so I'm really optimistic that
  21. you'll be able to move that forward with, and definitely
  22. with some of the tips I'm gonna give you today.
  23. So let's take a look at the things you're doing
  24. so well and so identifying pain meds.
  25. Side effects jumped up 66.67% and discussing pain meds side
  26. effects that jumped up 33%.
  27. So both at 100 kept informed about care.
  28. Also jumped up to 75%.
  29. Eso We want to keep those moving.
  30. I think a big part of ah part of the
  31. rial issue in your cap scores is that you don't
  32. get a lot of survey return.
  33. So, um, if there's ever an opportunity where family is
  34. praising you, um, you know, be sure to mention to
  35. them to complete the survey.
  36. You know, the more surveys we have, the better picture
  37. we have of the work going on, and it usually
  38. is very positive.
  39. So we want those surveys to come in.
  40. Let's look at the things we can work on for
  41. next month.
  42. So the greatest opportunity areas listen carefully about care problems.
  43. So that dropped way down to zero and then trained
  44. to help with restless and agitated is at zero also,
  45. and I do want to point out again, you had
  46. to survey returns, so this is really between one or
  47. two people, um, out of all the people you care
  48. for, So we really want to get those surveys up,
  49. um, to really help in that way.
  50. But we're going to talk about what we can do
  51. to get these back up and get you guys in
  52. the area that you that you are you should be
  53. so listening.
  54. So taking time to listen.
  55. It's hard.
  56. I know your schedule is busy.
  57. You're a lot on your plate to do so, but
  58. it really is an important thing you need to do
  59. each time.
  60. So take time to listen before going to someone's home.
  61. Take a moment to take a deep breath level.
  62. Set yourself as a reminder to be present in that
  63. moment and, you know, we do get caught up in
  64. the task.
  65. So it's just really important to kind of take that
  66. time for yourself.
  67. Toe be ready and then trained to help with restless
  68. and agitated.
  69. You know, I think, um, what happens here is our
  70. family. They get really anxious when when the patients getting
  71. out of bed.
  72. Or maybe they're not medicated well or, you know, they
  73. they're they're not with it, so they're not really understanding
  74. and and so it makes him a fall risk.
  75. Um, just making sure you touch base, you know, communicate
  76. with those family members each time you're in there, Ask
  77. him about it, you know?
  78. So tell me what?
  79. What has been going on?
  80. Has your loved one been, you know, restless or showed
  81. any agitation or getting out of bed?
  82. How can I help you with that?
  83. You know, just want to touch base, just that they
  84. feel supported.
  85. Um, and so that they know that you are.
  86. You are talking to them about that.
  87. And you can use those keywords restless and agitated when
  88. you do that as well.
  89. And that will help when they fill out the scorecard
  90. because he wants to be like, Yes, you did it.
  91. Address that because you're probably thinking.
  92. But I do address that.
  93. And sometimes I don't know if family is always correlate
  94. the two together.
  95. So the final thing I want to leave you with
  96. today is first up app.
  97. So I don't know if you have this already on
  98. your phone, but if you don't and would be interested,
  99. um, you go under your app store and look up.
  100. Osf first up app.
  101. Uh, download that and then you're going to follow the
  102. M S s news feed.
  103. That is, we're under the MSs umbrella.
  104. Multi specialty service is and so the information specific to
  105. us in home care will be running under that feed
  106. as well as other things on the main feed.
  107. So the reason why I tell you this is not
  108. just because it has really good information, but also because
  109. I'm doing I'm doing a Siri's every other week where
  110. I'm pulling a story off the icy to a portal.
  111. And I'm retelling that story on on that app.
  112. And I I think it's another outlet for us to
  113. highlight the great work that you guys were doing in
  114. home care and to reach a broader audience with those
  115. stories. So a put your stories out on the icy
  116. to a portal.
  117. It could be about yourself.
  118. It could be about somebody you work with, something that
  119. touches you or something that's really special, and I will
  120. pull those stories and just continue to keep sharing them.
  121. And I want you to see them on the portal
  122. also. So if you want to do that, that'd be
  123. great. If not, I know there will be a desktop
  124. option in the future for the first, uh, pap if
  125. you don't want it on your phone.
  126. But if you can put it on your phone, it's
  127. really easy.
  128. I check it daily.
  129. It takes two minutes.
  130. It's really fast.
  131. But I, you know, would love if something's about you.
  132. I would love for you to see it.
  133. So, um, just a heads up about that.
  134. But you guys keep it up.
  135. Thank you for all you do out there in the
  136. front lines.
  137. Especially during this really strange time in history.
  138. Uh, it's very appreciated.
  139. And we do appreciate the work you're doing.
  140. Thank you for listening.
  141. And we'll talk next month.
  142. Have a great day.
