00:01 - 00:03
Hello, I'm Michael Saylor, and this is my final presentation
00:04 - 00:04
for I Act One.
00:05 - 00:07
I think it's essential to start with my big goal
00:08 - 00:08
for the semester.
00:09 - 00:11
My big goal was to recognize my wants and needs
00:11 - 00:12
and start to fulfill them.
00:12 - 00:15
I remember wondering how in the heck am I gonna
00:15 - 00:16
be able to accomplish this task?
00:17 - 00:18
I like to imagine that in the beginning of the
00:18 - 00:21
semester, I was handled, handed this puzzle with its hundreds
00:21 - 00:23
of pieces and told Just go.
00:24 - 00:26
However, as anyone who has ever completed a puzzle will
00:26 - 00:28
tell you once you get the first few pieces down,
00:29 - 00:30
the rest appear more obvious.
00:31 - 00:34
I think when understanding how I got to complete this
00:34 - 00:37
assignment, it's easier to start with the conclusion the action
00:37 - 00:38
plan and work my way backwards.
00:39 - 00:42
My action plan is a simple Siris of steps, which
00:43 - 00:44
I am hoping to take to find fulfillment.
00:45 - 00:47
The first part of this process is to interact with
00:47 - 00:50
as many different people as I can and allow them
00:50 - 00:53
to introduce me to things which they enjoy participating them.
00:53 - 00:56
Not only will this give me more social interaction, but
00:56 - 00:58
it will also allow me to use these friends as
00:58 - 01:01
a catalyst to discovery the areas of activity that they
01:01 - 01:03
think is totally normal in their lives could be something
01:04 - 01:05
I didn't realize I was missing in mine.
01:06 - 01:08
However, I must make sure that I approach each venture
01:09 - 01:11
with an open mind and for my final and probably
01:12 - 01:12
most important step.
01:13 - 01:15
I need to make an intentional effort to have an
01:16 - 01:19
evaluation of the activity before I share it with others
01:20 - 01:20
I might find.
01:20 - 01:22
I enjoy doing things that don't really fit in with
01:23 - 01:24
what other people think is cool.
01:24 - 01:27
So I need to internalize my own decisions so I
01:27 - 01:28
do not let others influence my opinion.
01:30 - 01:32
One of the most important portions of this word came
01:32 - 01:34
from the identification of patterns in this class.
01:35 - 01:37
Throughout much of my time, I had certain patterns that
01:37 - 01:39
manifested through my activities in this class.
01:40 - 01:42
Many of these patterns were pointed out to me near
01:42 - 01:43
the end of my time.
01:43 - 01:43
During the pattern.
01:44 - 01:47
Target activity in this appear from my class, pointed out
01:47 - 01:50
multiple phrases and words that repeated themselves throughout.
01:51 - 01:55
Some of these phrases were social new fulfillment, active and
01:56 - 01:56
open mindedness.
01:57 - 01:59
Since these patterns were fundamental to my work.
01:59 - 02:02
It is obvious on a conscious or subconscious level that
02:02 - 02:05
I realized these ideas would be important in my final
02:05 - 02:09
design. After this, phrases that were instrumental in the action
02:09 - 02:10
plan were added.
02:11 - 02:13
Each of these pattern words are represented in the steps
02:14 - 02:15
of my action plan.
02:16 - 02:19
If pattern identification was the most influential portion of this
02:19 - 02:23
class, managing AB ambiguity be would be right behind it.
02:23 - 02:26
From me and this portion, the class we discussed our
02:26 - 02:28
fears, strengths, what ifs and start doing.
02:29 - 02:32
Through this vulnerability and reflection, I realized I was afraid
02:32 - 02:35
of the unknown, worried about wasting time and wanting to
02:35 - 02:36
be a member of the group.
02:37 - 02:38
We then discussed how my strengths lie in my social
02:39 - 02:42
ability and my willingness to try new and diverse areas
02:42 - 02:42
of interest.
02:43 - 02:44
We then developed.
02:44 - 02:47
What if statements to challenge ourselves and mine was what
02:47 - 02:49
if I always had to be honest with myself?
02:50 - 02:52
This idea evolved into my start doing which I was
02:52 - 02:55
going to start being honest with myself before I let
02:55 - 02:58
other people influence my decisions, you will notice that this
02:58 - 03:00
was directly incorporated into my action plan as well.
03:02 - 03:04
All this work was based on my letter of design
03:04 - 03:07
proving ground in my one hour challenged, I noticed to
03:07 - 03:09
my reflection, that much of this work tended to be
03:09 - 03:11
work that followed patterns in the proving ground.
03:12 - 03:13
I want analyze the work that I had completed.
03:14 - 03:16
Up until that point of the semester, I was able
03:16 - 03:18
to organize my thoughts and to begin to build on
03:18 - 03:21
the foundational knowledge that I had gathered from the convergent
03:22 - 03:24
and divergent portion of the class and one hour design
03:24 - 03:27
challenge. In this challenge, we were tasked with working with
03:27 - 03:29
our peers Thio Challenge.
03:30 - 03:33
They're thinking via convergent and divergent thought this lead us
03:33 - 03:36
to creating prototypes one another in order to try and
03:36 - 03:37
encourage us to grow.
03:37 - 03:39
My partner gave me the prototype of airpods.
03:41 - 03:44
These earbuds connect to other devices and like Airpods to
03:44 - 03:46
grow, I would have to connect to others and create
03:47 - 03:49
meaningful connections in order to find fulfillment.
03:50 - 03:52
This is integrated into the social aspect of my action
03:53 - 03:57
plan and the first activity that we did in this
03:57 - 04:00
class. We completed a mind map and this was a
04:00 - 04:02
mind map of our convert gin and divergent thought.
04:03 - 04:05
Through this activity, I was able to explore the many
04:05 - 04:07
different avenues, which I thought I might need to take
04:08 - 04:08
to find film int.
04:09 - 04:12
Many of these ideas, especially regarding new activities and social
04:13 - 04:15
ability manifested, is the base of much of my work
04:15 - 04:18
in this class, and this leads us back to my
04:18 - 04:21
big goal, which once again was wanting to understand my
04:21 - 04:23
wants and needs and meeting them.
04:23 - 04:25
As you can see, this class led me on a
04:25 - 04:28
journey as I tried to explore how best to complete
04:28 - 04:30
this challenge, and I would argue that I am quite
04:30 - 04:33
successful using this process that I learned in this class.
04:34 - 04:35
I'm now able to apply this to a wide array
04:36 - 04:39
of problems by understanding convergent, divergent thought.
04:39 - 04:41
I'll be able to generate mass amounts of ideas on
04:41 - 04:44
the topic, and then I can use editor thinking to
04:44 - 04:47
slowly build on these ideas, setting side ones that don't
04:47 - 04:50
make complete sense until later and using other thoughts to
04:50 - 04:51
synthesize a final design.
04:52 - 04:54
Once I have a plan, I can challenge myself to
04:54 - 04:57
expand on this by questioning myself with skills learned and
04:57 - 04:58
managing ambiguity.
04:58 - 05:01
And throughout my work, I can go and look for
05:01 - 05:03
patterns and make sure those air represented in the final
05:03 - 05:05
product thank you so much for listening
