  1. grace and peace to you From Zeb, Yah Lin and
  2. Concord United Methodists on the fourth Sunday of lint Today
  3. is March 22nd 2000 and 20.
  4. Our scripture reading today comes from Ephesians five versus eight
  5. through 14.
  6. Here The reading of God's were for once you were
  7. darkness. But now in the Lord you are light live
  8. as Children of light for the fruit of the light
  9. is found in all that is good and right and
  10. true Try to find out what is pleasing to the
  11. Lord. Take no part in unfaithful works off darkness but
  12. instead expose them for it is shameful even to mention
  13. what such people do secretly But everything exposed by the
  14. light becomes visible for everything that becomes visible is light.
  15. Therefore, it says sleepers awake rise from the dead and
  16. Christ will shine on you Let us go to the
  17. Lord in prayer Gracious and loving God we come before
  18. you today, Lord, Some of us are lonely and at
  19. home alone others air gathered together with their family in
  20. their private residents.
  21. God, we're trying to be good stewards of of our
  22. body. This vessel that you have given to us so
  23. that we may be in service of you and in
  24. service of others.
  25. But, Lord, as we are taking ah, time to be
  26. good stewards of all that you have given to us,
  27. Lord, we are spending this time isolated or or in
  28. a good distance from others.
  29. Lord, it has caused us to feel as if the
  30. light or the flame from are being is nowhere near
  31. is bright is it could or should be so, God,
  32. we pray that you be with us, that you share
  33. with us and that you share through us to others.
  34. Lord, may we kindle each other's fire in your love
  35. and in your light but God as we come before
  36. you Today, Lord, we pray for those that are weak
  37. and weary.
  38. Those that are sick those that Lord that have fallen
  39. ill due to this virus that is around Lord, and
  40. those that have lost their loved ones and their friends
  41. due to the virus.
  42. God, we pray that you will be with each one,
  43. made you comfort them.
  44. May you put a hedge of protection around them, but
  45. you give them much peace and grace on Lord May
  46. you carry them through this time of struggle.
  47. But God, may you be with each one of us.
  48. May we be faithful into you?
  49. May we be faithful in our study time in our
  50. time of Scripture, in our time of prayer and in
  51. our time of worship, his friends as family and his
  52. loved ones apart and also together the Lord.
  53. Now we unite together today and pray as you taught
  54. us to pray.
  55. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
  56. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as
  57. it is in heaven.
  58. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us
  59. our trespasses as we forgive those who trust past against
  60. us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
  61. from evil minus the kingdom the power and the glory
  62. forever. I'm in.
  63. As we were looking at the Scripture today, it was
  64. talking about us being, ah, part of the darkness that
  65. we are the darkness.
  66. Until we come into the light into the light of
  67. God is in us through our faithfulness through our time
  68. of being one with God, our time of setting aside
  69. our own self desires our own self will and way.
  70. As we look in Scripture, we see so many place
  71. where it talks about keeping our mind from the darkness
  72. where you know, what we need to remember is that
  73. darkness never dispels light.
  74. But light always dispels darkness.
  75. You know, if you've ever entered into a room that
  76. was completely pitch dark and you take light into it,
  77. you can find your way.
  78. But if you enter into a room with that is
  79. full of light, darkness can never take over as long
  80. as light is there.
  81. And so God lets us know through the reading of
  82. the scripture, What was those who called, um evil good.
  83. And then those who call good evil.
  84. Those of us who pay partake of of the light
  85. are the light in the darkness for the darkness.
  86. You know, God tells us to come unto him, and
  87. as we come on to him as we yield our
  88. bodies and our minds and our lives, when we love
  89. God with all that we are and we give everything
  90. over to God, we give ourselves over to be light
  91. to be the light in the midst of the darkness
  92. of the world.
  93. And at this time, we are sincerely in a place
  94. where darkness seems to just keep casting over the lives.
  95. But we are to remember that we have the light
  96. of God in us and that we're the light unto
  97. the world.
  98. God tells us right in the very beginning that he
  99. said, Let there be light on.
  100. We read that in Genesis.
  101. He lets us know that he is our light and
  102. that he lets us have that light through the death,
  103. burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  104. The light of God came into our lives into the
  105. darkness of who we are and that that light takes
  106. over our darkness so that we can seek out what
  107. is good and what is right and what is true.
  108. You know, I love when it tells us that we
  109. bear the fruit of God's light.
  110. I mean, you know, a pear tree bears pears.
  111. A grapevine bears grapes.
  112. You know, we have to look at that.
  113. We, whatever we are bearing whatever we are casting out
  114. over to others, that is who we are.
  115. That is who is in us.
  116. God bless us.
  117. No, I am in you and you are in me
  118. today I pray that you are in Christ and that
  119. Christ is in you.
  120. I pray that you yield over your life every day
  121. that you yield over your words, your deeds, who you
  122. are, what you're looking at, what you're talking about, what
  123. you're hearing I love Ah, I saw the other day
  124. at the dollar store.
  125. Well before we were all kind of cast in.
  126. I was at the dollar store and they had these
  127. three little pigs to put out for the like this
  128. time of the year.
  129. And they were really cute.
  130. And one had his hands over his eyes and the
  131. other one over his ears, and the last one had
  132. over his mouth.
  133. And God lets us know that whatever we hear, whatever
  134. we see and whatever we speak, that's the fruit of
  135. who we are.
  136. And so I pray that you are bearing much root
  137. that is the light of Christ and the grace of
  138. God in you.
  139. You know, God's grace is greater than all the sins
  140. and us.
  141. So let's say that you've never given your life sincerely
  142. over to Christ that you didn't wake up this morning
  143. and humbly bow before him.
  144. It is never too late.
  145. There's never a moment when God says, Well, not today,
  146. not now.
  147. I mean, remember yesterday he tells us that each day,
  148. each moment is a new moment given by him for
  149. grace and peace to us for forgiveness and life.
  150. I mean, he lets us know that we are life
  151. because Christ lives in us because we've accepted that gift
  152. because we've received his forgiveness because we've given ourselves over
  153. to being the light of Christ into the world.
  154. I mean, when I think about all that God is
  155. called on us to be and to do, I think
  156. about the times when I've fallen short.
  157. And then I think about the times when Jesus when
  158. I've gone to him for forgiveness and he's taken it
  159. unto the father and the father has been so gracious
  160. to forgive me and make me new again to say
  161. Begin again.
  162. Now, Arianna, begin again, this moment to live.
  163. For me, there's been times when even in this this
  164. time of lot down, when everything in me just wants
  165. to scream because I'm a social person, you'll know that
  166. about me If you know me.
  167. I love to visit with my church members.
  168. I love to socialize.
  169. I love my Wednesday night with my, uh, three young
  170. men who are going through confirmation.
  171. Guys, I miss you all so much.
  172. I miss our time together.
  173. I miss our worship together.
  174. I miss our learning together.
  175. I pray that as we have our trip planned for
  176. the end of April, that all this will go away
  177. and and calm down and we'll be able to go
  178. to Epworth and spend time together and catch up on
  179. all the things that we should have been doing these
  180. last few weeks.
  181. And and, of course, as we know that, we won't
  182. be able to meet again for several more weeks, right?
  183. Only in through April I pray that by Easter Sunday
  184. that's our day of light and grace, where we all
  185. get to get together even if we just meet out
  186. into the great wide open a separate and far enough
  187. apart, but that we gather together and watch the sun
  188. come up.
  189. Even if we gather together at home one together and
  190. watch the sun rise and thank God for his great
  191. gift of grace and forgiveness given to us But light
  192. and fruit is who you are.
  193. You are the evidence of who God is each and
  194. every day.
  195. You know, as we begin this new week a CZ
  196. we begin this day starting a new week and a
  197. new life of obedience to Christ.
  198. I want you to remember this.
  199. I want you to remember that you need to do
  200. good and to live in the light.
  201. Light is the nature of who we are.
  202. It is the identity of the one that lives in
  203. us and the one that determines who we are.
  204. And by the walk that we have And by the
  205. light in the words of life that we are to
  206. others how we live and what we think and how
  207. we feel and what we say and what we do
  208. like in Ephesians.
  209. The writer describes them as this that says that this
  210. is who we are.
  211. The writer says that we are the fruit off the
  212. light. Who is the light?
  213. Christ in us who are we were the evidence of
  214. his light.
  215. May you live your life today.
  216. May you make the phone calls to encourage one that
  217. you know is alone.
  218. In this time of isolation, may you call 1 May
  219. you send a message through Facebook?
  220. Too many that speaks of Christ.
  221. None of this virus, but of who got he is
  222. in us.
  223. May we remember to keep sharing scripture to keep sharing
  224. our prayers, to take time to pray with others?
  225. May you receive my phone calls And may I receive
  226. yours so that we may pray together so that we
  227. may praise together so that we may continue to be
  228. the light of the fruit of the God that is
  229. in us.
  230. Maybe bear much fruit made the grace in peace and
  231. Christ that lives in you breathe new life into others.
  232. May God bless you and keep you and may you
  233. understand. And through the understanding of Christ, keep your hearts
  234. and your minds in Christ Jesus and in God, our
  235. father grace and beasts to you Today and every day
  236. in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray for all
  237. things and God's blessings be with you.
  238. I'm in
