  1. So this is my project on why a deepwater oil
  2. drilling is bad.
  3. I do not believe that the oil industry should be
  4. allowed to continue practice deepwater oil drilling because the process
  5. of oil extraction is a lot more expensive than onshore
  6. drilling, and they there are extreme environmental damages that are
  7. irreversible. To start the deepwater oil drilling requires a lot
  8. of special equipment, which is a lot more expensive than
  9. the setup of basically conventional onshore drilling.
  10. Well, um, they're also extreme risks, especially for workers who
  11. are operating this well.
  12. And there are a lot of accidents on offshore wells,
  13. but they're much more hazardous when they are extracting oil
  14. from the ocean.
  15. Um, it's also really difficult to stop these hazards from
  16. occurring. Um, because there are a greater distance between the
  17. oil site and places where people can get help if
  18. they're injured, Um, during the oil extraction process.
  19. Another reason why oil drilling is bad is the environmental
  20. damages that it causes are basically unavoidable and irreversible, and
  21. the conditions on the offshore well make it hard to
  22. contain, um, and to generate this large amount of oil.
  23. And it's extremely, it's a lot more difficult when you
  24. are searching for oil in the ocean because oil spills
  25. are extremely common and they can harm the marine life
  26. around it.
  27. And if people working on these wells don't manage to
  28. clean up the spill in a short amount of time,
  29. this can create a massive dead zone in the middle
  30. of the ocean, which is extremely bad for marine life.
  31. Um, this also harms the environment because the process of
  32. setting up these wells and setting up the equipment can
  33. lead to a lot of damage in the biosphere.
  34. And there are toxic chemicals like mercury that are released
  35. into the water.
  36. Um, due to these deepwater oil extractions, um, which also
  37. kills a lot of marine life.
  38. So seismic waves are also triggered by the process of
  39. drilling, and they're very harmful to a lot of bigger
  40. sea mammals.
  41. Um, and this is one of the main reasons why
  42. whales and dolphins beach themselves and I onshore, um, a
  43. lot of marine plants to also die because of these
  44. chemicals in the water.
  45. So one con of, I mean one pro of offshore
  46. drilling is that there is an increase in oil production,
  47. which is very good.
  48. Um, and there was the bigger development of offshore drilling.
  49. Um, there is a lot more oil that's being produced,
  50. Um, that is being spread around the world and being
  51. used every day.
  52. Offshore drilling can also create a lot of job opportunities
  53. for people.
  54. Um, and that's also really important, especially if people are
  55. looking for a job.
  56. And since these walls are producing more oil faster, this
  57. is really good for basically the whole world's economy and
  58. how countries work together in exchange oil.
  59. So in conclusion, oil deepwater oil drilling has some benefits.
  60. Um, but they mostly has cons, and the cons are
  61. way larger than the benefits.
  62. Um, and there's a big downside, and we cannot stop
  63. paying attention to the environmental impacts that that happens because
  64. of these offshore oil drilling wells.
  65. Um, and we need to protect our environment and protect
  66. our workers.
  67. Um, and it's really important that we work to stop
  68. these offshore oil drills, drilling wells, um, from spreading and
  69. becoming more popular
