00:01 - 00:01
Thanks, Carol.
00:02 - 00:02
How everyone?
00:03 - 00:03
My name is Jessica.
00:04 - 00:06
Accordingly, and I'm gonna talk a little bit about building
00:06 - 00:09
your college network at a BU, you have the opportunity
00:10 - 00:13
to meet a wide variety of new people, and we
00:13 - 00:14
really encourage you to do so.
00:15 - 00:16
One of the benefits of being a part of a
00:17 - 00:19
fig is that it allows you to start building your
00:19 - 00:20
relationships in college.
00:21 - 00:24
Early on, we want to highlight three groups that will
00:24 - 00:26
become part of your college network.
00:29 - 00:32
The first group are the faculty, staff and academic advisers
00:32 - 00:35
within your college who will either be your instructor in
00:35 - 00:37
the course or who may make guest appearances.
00:39 - 00:42
Building relationships with faculty and staff is important to not
00:42 - 00:44
only your success at every you, but beyond.
00:45 - 00:47
They're likely the people who you will be asking to
00:47 - 00:50
write you a letter of recommendation or to be a
00:50 - 00:53
reference for you for that summer internship and was only
00:53 - 00:54
25 students in the class.
00:55 - 00:57
You will really have the opportunity to get to know
00:57 - 01:00
them, and they will have the opportunity to get to
01:00 - 01:00
know you.
01:03 - 01:06
The second group of people you'll meet are the pure
01:07 - 01:11
academic coaches or packs for short, the packs, their upper
01:11 - 01:13
division, undergraduate and graduate students.
01:14 - 01:17
There is one pack assigned to each big section, and
01:17 - 01:19
that pack will attend your class every week.
01:20 - 01:22
You'll also get the opportunity to meet with them individually
01:23 - 01:23
outside of class.
01:24 - 01:26
I'll speak more about those packs a minute.
01:29 - 01:32
The third group you'll build connections with are your peers
01:32 - 01:33
in the glass.
01:34 - 01:35
The students in your class.
01:35 - 01:38
It already share some similar interests with you and being
01:38 - 01:41
in the same college, you're likely to share some additional
01:41 - 01:45
courses. We hope that some of these relationships turn into
01:45 - 01:48
friendships that extend well beyond this course.
01:52 - 01:55
So now a little bit more about those packs.
01:55 - 01:59
Here, you can see a few testimonials from students who
01:59 - 02:01
were in your shoes not too long ago.
02:02 - 02:04
Who had the opportunity to work with a pack their
02:04 - 02:05
first year.
02:06 - 02:07
So, as I mentioned are packed.
02:08 - 02:09
Team consists of F A U students.
02:10 - 02:13
These students have found success at FAA you, but that's
02:13 - 02:15
not to say that it came easy to them.
02:16 - 02:18
They really put in the hard work to develop strategies
02:20 - 02:23
that would help them be successful like good time management
02:24 - 02:24
and prioritizing.
02:26 - 02:27
They're here to work with you to help you uncover
02:28 - 02:31
your shrinks, some of which you may not have realized
02:31 - 02:34
you had on to help you create your own personalized
02:34 - 02:35
plan for success.
02:36 - 02:38
And if you didn't get a chance to read through
02:38 - 02:41
the student testimonials or if you can't see them all
02:41 - 02:43
quickly read through a few of them.
02:45 - 02:47
It just helped me a lot with college and how
02:47 - 02:49
to approach it and knock it out of the park,
02:50 - 02:51
which I appreciate it.
02:52 - 02:54
It made me feel I had someone other than myself
02:55 - 02:56
motivating and supporting me.
02:58 - 03:01
He gave a lot of good advice on personal level.
03:01 - 03:04
Since he was also a commuter student, he shared his
03:04 - 03:05
experience and how to get involved.
