  1. Yeah, hi.
  2. Year two.
  3. I've made this this video quite short because I imagine
  4. that celebration assembly will be quite long and you've been
  5. fixed to the computer screen for quite a long time.
  6. So I've got a nice practical activity for you.
  7. There is some writing as well, but I thought it's
  8. something that everybody can do at home without without too
  9. much bother.
  10. And I'm hoping that everybody has some pastor.
  11. So if you haven't got passed in may be frozen
  12. peas or buttons or something else As long as you
  13. can get 24 of them ready to count, that would
  14. be fantastic.
  15. So you can pause me now on Dhe.
  16. Go and find some you need to count out of
  17. the bag.
  18. 24 pieces of pastor on.
  19. We're going to be seeing a LH the different ways
  20. that we can make.
  21. 24. We're going to be doing some pastor maths on
  22. a sheet of paper on your book.
  23. If you're recording all of your work in a book,
  24. that would be really helpful on squared paper if you
  25. have it.
  26. But if you don't have any of those things, then
  27. just the pastor is fine.
  28. Right. Okay.
  29. So I would This is a called a part whole
  30. model when we've we've covered these before.
  31. But it was a little while ago.
  32. Andi, I have the whole number at the top.
  33. The whole number is 24.
  34. Because I had 24 pieces of pastor altogether on dhe.
  35. I partition it, which means that I split the number
  36. into two quantities.
  37. So my 24 I can split in lots of different
  38. ways. Andi, I can write it like this.
  39. So it looks a little bit like Cherries on a
  40. tree. Sometimes you see Cherries on dhe.
  41. They look a little bit like that on on the
  42. one side, I have the 20 and I put my
  43. 20 pieces of pastor on on the other side, I
  44. have my four pieces of pastor.
  45. This is a great place to start because you've got
  46. your tens and you've got your ones.
  47. So if you could start like this if you do
  48. your 24 then you do your two circles underneath, then
  49. you could just slide the pastor across either way so
  50. you can see how many you have on each side,
  51. and then you know as you partition it that the
  52. bottom number plus the bottom number will equal the whole
  53. number 24 at the top because you're not taking any
  54. away or adding any just or you're always going to
  55. have 24 pieces of pastor.
  56. So it's a really great way of finding out all
  57. the different ways that you can do this on their
  58. There are quite a few.
  59. Now. I would like you to stick Thio, dividing 22
  60. into two parts of partition it partitioning it into two
  61. into two lots.
  62. So maybe have a little think now about another way
  63. that you can do it So you know that 20
  64. add four is 24.
  65. What else could you do?
  66. So on my part whole model There I moved four,
  67. a class across from the 20 over it with the
  68. four on the other side, and now I have something.
  69. Ah, Nde eight.
  70. There are now eight on the far side equals 24
  71. because that's my whole number at the top.
  72. I'll give you a moment to think about it.
  73. You can pause me if you want to work it
  74. out yourself will count them in the picture.
  75. The answer is 16.
  76. So you have 16 at eight equals 24 I would
  77. like you to present it a little bit like this
  78. on this is practicing are equal.
  79. Sign that we were practicing in class before Christmas on
  80. weaken. Say the whole amount 24 equals 20 add four
  81. or 20 add four equals 24.
  82. These could go either way and quite often in test
  83. questions, we can get caught out if we have the
  84. whole number first on, then the number sentence afterwards.
  85. So it's really good practice to use both and try
  86. and trying to get your head around the fact that
  87. sometimes the whole number comes first and then it equals.
  88. So then underneath you got your answer there It says
  89. 24 equals 16 plus 8.
  90. 16 plus eight equals 24.
  91. Now this is written in big, ugly felt tip so
  92. that you can read it.
  93. I'd like you to write it out nice and neatly.
  94. If you're using squared paper, use one number per square.
  95. Keep it nice and neat.
  96. It's good practice for your book.
  97. Make sure that all of your numbers on the right
  98. way round.
  99. So watch out with those fives on dhe Sevens.
  100. You know who you are If this applies to you,
  101. Andi, I'd like you to see how many you can
  102. do as a challenge.
  103. Activity. I would like to know also how many different
  104. arrays you can make out of this.
  105. So definitely, if you would go for the pit challenge
  106. in class, this is one for you.
  107. How many different arrays can you make with your 24
  108. pieces of pastor on?
  109. Can you write down the multiplication sentences that match?
  110. So that's an extra challenge.
  111. If you would like it.
  112. I'd love to see your pictures of these, or I'd
  113. like to know how you got on with it.
  114. Give me some feedback.
  115. It's really hard to think of things that don't necessarily
  116. need a printer or a grown up or lots and
  117. lots of things to help you at home.
  118. So I would normally use lots of resources in school.
  119. I thought the pastor might be something that everybody has
  120. in their carpet or something similar.
  121. So good luck here, too.
  122. I'm not going to go on any longer.
  123. I know you've been watching assembly and everything else.
  124. Good luck.
  125. Let me know how you get on
