  1. My name is Kyle Nicholson and my presentation is called
  2. fitness in the workplace.
  3. Now, my proposals, main goal is implementing a gym facility
  4. for all employees at our company and only our company.
  5. I would promote self care for both physical and mental
  6. health, an intern of that, an increase in productivity in
  7. the workplace.
  8. Now, my vision is to see employees who maybe have
  9. or have not take a step back and look at
  10. their health, to do so with the on site gym
  11. and being more self aware of their health than before
  12. they entered this company and try to become better than
  13. they were when they showed up.
  14. Now, this implementing a gym, it's not just about making
  15. employees look good, it's going to change the whole culture.
  16. This is more than fitness.
  17. It doesn't matter if you blue collar or white college,
  18. every facet of work, you're going to face some sort
  19. of stress if you're working on the floor or you're
  20. part of the rat race, trying to work your way
  21. up the corporate ladder, According to the February 2011 issue
  22. of Harvard men's health watch exercise has the ability to
  23. both accelerate and relaxing, conserved a counter depression and dissipate
  24. stress. Clinical research and results also have shown that workers
  25. sleep better after exercise and are able to lower both
  26. their cholesterol and blood pressure with better sleep.
  27. You'll see less cortisol.
  28. Cortisol is the main problem and the main contributor to
  29. stress and it can tear down your body easily.
  30. Many people will go many ways trying to get rid
  31. of their stress and we're trying to give our employees
  32. the best outlet to release the stress and I believe
  33. that implementing a gym that is easy, accessible to our
  34. employees will do just that.
  35. Now, if you have employees are not super stressed out
  36. and want to rip off their other employees heads, you're
  37. going to get something that I think is so much
  38. greater and unseen from thinking about adding a gym.
  39. You're gonna see inclusion, like never before, you'll see relationships
  40. of people that you didn't think we're gonna happen.
  41. Most people, some people just show up to work and
  42. clock in clock out, don't really talk to many people
  43. and don't really care about the people that work with
  44. now, some people, when they come, they don't go to
  45. the gym, they are intimidated by the gym.
  46. They never worked out in gym and don't know how
  47. to use equipment or they just don't have an interest
  48. and don't have really any anybody to go with having
  49. it on work site, you're going to see people working,
  50. are going to the gym together, making relationships, that we're
  51. not going to happen without this gym.
  52. And if you have more loyalty and an atmosphere where
  53. teamwork, it spills over into the community and reflects well
  54. on your organization, well you're going to see what the
  55. next slide is and what I think the most important
  56. slide for all the ceos and upper class people paying
  57. attention to this presentation is the productivity increase.
  58. If you have workers who want to work together and
  59. are less stressed, they will do their job way beyond
  60. their original um ideas.
  61. Our starting points in this company Studies show that six
  62. out of 10 workers said that their time management skills,
  63. mental performance and ability to meet deadlines approved on the
  64. days when they exercise the amount of overall performance boosts
  65. was about 15% according to the findings which were presented
  66. this month and meeting of American in college sports Medicine
  67. in Nashville Tennessee, This is one of the main points
  68. I want to get at because I can preach all
  69. day about how good this is going to make our
  70. employees. But at the end of the day, we are
  71. business and we need to see results.
  72. This will make a results increase.
  73. We're gonna have more confident workers can have workers who
  74. want to work together even more and they're gonna be
  75. less stress and more focused than I've ever seen.
  76. And that's just to start of why I think this
  77. proposal of adding an on site gym is what we
  78. need here Now.
  79. Our employees need to know that we care about them,
  80. we need them to know we want them here and
  81. their health comes first and that can come from physical,
  82. it's not a secret regular exercise and good diet can
  83. dramatically reduce rates of heart disease.
  84. It can also promote weight loss and muscle growth, which
  85. can lead to physical appearance.
  86. That is greater and a more confident person.
  87. We need more confident people in the right place.
  88. We don't need tired people who do not want to
  89. be here.
  90. We need confident people.
  91. And I think physically this will help, but physically can
  92. only get you so far.
  93. The next slide I would like to talk about is
  94. mental health okay?
  95. Mental health is and it is more important to health
  96. and physical.
  97. For a study in 2017 is selling, published in the
  98. Journal of Sports Medicine and Gordon and his colleges conducted
  99. another uh Another meta analysis of 16 studies involving 992
  100. told participants it concluded that the resistant training significantly improves
  101. anxiety symptoms among with both health participants and participants with
  102. a physical or mental illness.
  103. A lot of times we won't see what is troubling
  104. a worker in the workplace.
  105. and like I said before, there are many other facets
  106. for people to let go stress.
  107. Not some our immediate help that long term are not
  108. good for employees.
  109. We need to check on them.
  110. We mental health, especially in this day and age is
  111. very important.
  112. And it needs to be addressed.
  113. Physical exercise promotes for better health.
  114. And we need to promote that and also be able
  115. to talk about these sort of things in the workplace
  116. and it be okay to talk about these things.
  117. Yeah. Also you will see workers playing out their days
  118. and being more organized and on task, having to plan
  119. out your day to exercise, makes you more time conscious
  120. and makes you more organized and more efficient with the
  121. time you do.
  122. You have to do your work and exercising.
  123. It actually keeps you on track the things you know,
  124. going to work out before work or after work.
  125. Makes you feel.
  126. Some people stressed like I have to get here, I
  127. have to go to this place, working out at work
  128. and not having the rush keeps you on task.
  129. It makes you from this hour, this hour I'm working
  130. out and then I'm back to work and if I
  131. don't fit that I can't you know, do my work,
  132. I can't do my workout, it will keep you on
  133. track. It is a good thing now uh to the
  134. part of our discussion that is more than just the
  135. fluff and more of the upside for all our employees.
  136. It's surreal talk and it's the cost that will come
  137. with this.
  138. Now I could continue talking about all the benefits or
  139. I can get down to the nitty gritty and explain
  140. to you what we need to make this happen.
  141. And I'll also explain the things that we need.
  142. Yes will cost us.
  143. But we will make that money back.
  144. We will exceed that money.
  145. And we will continue to promote a culture that will
  146. push forward the loss and initial part of our uh
  147. construction for this gym.
  148. Well not even compare to the returns we will see.
  149. Yeah. Now the equipment we need most gyms cost $25,000.
  150. But the good news is we're not trying to be
  151. the next L.
  152. A. fitness or a sport to or whatever they're calling
  153. themselves these days.
  154. We are trying to be our gym for our our
  155. employees, not a group of kids trying to come in
  156. and work out or uh just it's our employees.
  157. So we will focus on our employees and the gym
  158. they need And the gym they need only costs $3-$6,000.
  159. Yes it will be a smaller gym but this smaller
  160. jim will have good equipment for great employees.
  161. Now this building will cost up to about $10,000.
  162. It will need to include showers, changing room, good wiring,
  163. good lighting and every requirement and safety protocols that will
  164. need to make this gym.
  165. The staff usually we uh most gyms have younger uh
  166. employees come in who usually work during summers or through
  167. school. Or we can provide workers who uh at any
  168. age you can come in and do the job.
  169. Either way they will be qualified to do this job.
  170. We need a cleaning crew if that being the workers
  171. there or professional one.
  172. And we want to make it clear that this gym
  173. is not 24 7, this is not A.
  174. T. C.
  175. We're not having people come around the clock here.
  176. We will we will stock before work and we will
  177. stop after work but we will not go through the
  178. night. We don't want people who do not go belong
  179. to this company here.
  180. We don't want people who we think would damage our
  181. gym and we don't want people who would steal from
  182. our jim.
  183. We want our employees and the liability for our employees
  184. already are taken in coming to work every single day.
  185. So the people out there are our employees and not
  186. anyone outside of that.
  187. Now the main thing when you run starting a new
  188. gym then it fails and we're gonna talk about the
  189. real stuff so we make sure this works is basically
  190. people come to work out.
  191. Everybody comes to work out.
  192. We have an empty we have a room full of
  193. waits for no reason and no returns.
  194. But this is how we're going to do it.
  195. We will have prizes for people coming in.
  196. We're not trying to make the next Arnold Schwarzenegger in
  197. our gym.
  198. If you're coming in for two hours a day and
  199. you are that muscle man or you're just on the
  200. treadmill for 10 minutes, you are doing a great job
  201. and we want you here but we will implement prizes
  202. for fitness goals because we want to either give cash
  203. prices, gifts, vacations, days off.
  204. We want a reason for you to be there other
  205. than just your health.
  206. We need those incentives.
  207. There's another incentive is a cheaper gym membership.
  208. I can guarantee you this game will be cheaper than
  209. any gym in the city of Memphis and you'll be
  210. able to do just if not more.
  211. And then what you can do at other places, you
  212. will do what you need here.
  213. You have easy access.
  214. If you are employed here, you already have access.
  215. We need you.
  216. We will need a little small feed but it will
  217. be a smaller feet than any place in Memphis.
  218. And this will in turn help us be able to
  219. pay back what we spent on this jim enclosing.
  220. I want you to know, I think this proposal is
  221. a great idea and will help with mental, physical and
  222. production in your workplace and there are things that you
  223. need to see for any employee and it's just I
  224. think it's great.
  225. The gym will In the beginning will cost the company
  226. but the average 15% increase in productivity and the payments
  227. and small payments from employees from a few years will
  228. pay back and exceed the loss and start a new
  229. culture of health, healthy hardworking employees and the returns for
  230. the company will exceed the losses not day after listening
  231. to me, I would like you to know, and I
  232. know you care about your employees and this will show
  233. that you care about them even more, that you care
  234. about their health.
  235. You care about their goals and their dreams, and you
  236. care about seeing them good and not just making your
  237. profit, but implementing this will make you profit.
  238. I hope you take this to heart and I hope
  239. you made the right decision.
  240. Thank you for listening today.
