00:00 - 00:02
Hi, I am Mrs Cave.
00:02 - 00:05
I am, uh, teach a teacher here at Central High
00:06 - 00:07
School, and I teach Spanish one.
00:07 - 00:10
Um, and I wanted to take a few minutes.
00:10 - 00:13
Teoh have an opportunity for you guys to get to
00:13 - 00:13
know me.
00:13 - 00:15
And for me, hopefully, at the end of this lesson
00:15 - 00:17
to get to know you, the only thing that I
00:18 - 00:20
want us to focus on this week is for us
00:20 - 00:23
to feel like we can navigate all the things that
00:23 - 00:24
I'm gonna be throwing at you.
00:25 - 00:27
And so when you feel like you're don't understand something,
00:27 - 00:29
I want you to know that I'm a real person,
00:29 - 00:30
not a robot.
00:30 - 00:34
Just pushing activities up to you, but somebody who has
00:34 - 00:36
designed lessons specifically for you.
00:37 - 00:40
Um, so if you need something or if you feel
00:40 - 00:43
like I'm going too fast or you don't understand something,
00:44 - 00:45
please please, please reach out to me.
00:46 - 00:48
So I felt like it would be best is if
00:48 - 00:50
I gave an opportunity for you guys to get to
00:50 - 00:52
know me a little bit better.
00:53 - 00:54
And so I'm gonna give you a quick lesson and
00:55 - 00:56
quick you about who I am, and then we're gonna
00:56 - 01:00
use this crazy thing called the your pod for you
01:00 - 01:03
to inter questions about me or maybe ask questions about
01:04 - 01:07
me. Um, and throughout the lesson, and this is something
01:07 - 01:08
that we're going to using all the time.
01:08 - 01:11
So I wanted to give us something on opportunity toe
01:11 - 01:14
practice, using it without it being a really great.
01:15 - 01:18
But just relax, get to know you type thing, um,
01:19 - 01:19
a little bit about me.
01:20 - 01:22
Uh, like I said, I teach Spanish one here at
01:22 - 01:24
Central. There is a speed is to teacher in a
01:24 - 01:25
Spanish three.
01:25 - 01:26
Teacher. What do you guys will get to go?
01:26 - 01:27
No. Maybe next.
01:27 - 01:28
Mestre, our next year.
01:29 - 01:33
Um and, uh, I also teach English as a second
01:33 - 01:34
language, but not here at Central.
01:35 - 01:36
Taught that in my past.
01:36 - 01:39
Um, and it's something that really love because I love
01:39 - 01:42
helping people learn how to speak a new language.
01:43 - 01:46
Um, and I think really, when you come here to
01:46 - 01:48
this country for the first time, having English is so
01:48 - 01:50
important. Just like I think having Spanish is super important
01:51 - 01:53
because somebody of our neighbors speak spanish.
01:54 - 01:57
Um, so this is my eighth year at Central.
01:57 - 01:58
I taught here for six years.
01:59 - 02:02
And then I left for four to teach in Harrisburg
02:03 - 02:03
High School.
02:03 - 02:06
And then I went down to South Central Virginia and
02:06 - 02:07
I talked down there.
02:08 - 02:10
Um and then, um, I got really smart and I
02:10 - 02:12
said, I want to go back to the mountains.
02:12 - 02:14
I'm gonna go back to the community that I love,
02:14 - 02:14
which is Woodstock.
02:15 - 02:17
And we moved back here and now of this my
02:17 - 02:18
second year back.
02:18 - 02:20
So eight years total at Central.
02:21 - 02:23
If you have older siblings, maybe I have, um but
02:24 - 02:25
I just love it here, and I love being a
02:25 - 02:36
falcon. So I am a Virginia native.
02:37 - 02:37
I grew up here.
02:38 - 02:41
Um, I grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, so closer to
02:42 - 02:42
D. C.
02:43 - 02:46
Um, I lived there from the time that I was
02:46 - 02:48
born until I went to JMU.
02:49 - 02:52
Um, I went to Jamie, go to study Spanish and
02:52 - 02:54
education, And then I say there to get my master's
02:55 - 02:59
in education in English language learners, education.
03:00 - 03:03
And then, um now, we've, uh, lived lots of different
03:04 - 03:07
places, actually, but now we've just settled down and new
03:07 - 03:10
market. So I love super super close, Teoh, the southern
03:11 - 03:14
end of the campus of our schools.
03:15 - 03:16
But I love Jamie.
03:16 - 03:18
You If you have any interest in going to jam
03:18 - 03:20
you in the future, you can always come talk to
03:20 - 03:29
me. And, um, we'll tell you everything that now all
03:29 - 03:32
right, My family, I feel like super important to me.
03:33 - 03:35
Um, so Jake is my husband.
03:36 - 03:39
Ah, He is a math teacher down in Rockingham County
03:39 - 03:41
and he's also an Air Force chaplain on.
03:41 - 03:44
And then I have my son, McCulley, who is seven.
03:44 - 03:45
He's the one that's in the middle there.
03:46 - 03:47
Um, but I am Mike Ray who?
03:48 - 03:49
He's someone that I'm holding.
03:49 - 03:53
He's four and then our baby McCain, who is currently
03:54 - 03:54
a year and a half.
03:55 - 03:57
Um and they are so much fun.
03:57 - 04:00
But they are a time of work because they're just
04:00 - 04:00
lots of energy.
04:01 - 04:04
My middle son not my middle son, but my oldest
04:04 - 04:05
son, who's there in the middle.
04:06 - 04:07
He loves Minecraft.
04:08 - 04:09
I don't know if any of you guys like Minecraft.
04:11 - 04:15
My four year old loves Toy Story, particularly Buzz your
04:15 - 04:18
Lightyear and Woody and four Key from the fourth one,
04:18 - 04:20
and also loves Incredibles.
04:22 - 04:25
And then my baby just loves anything that, you know,
04:25 - 04:38
is something that you put this about So some things
04:38 - 04:41
about me I really love being outside my husband and
04:41 - 04:45
I. This weekend we went to West Virginia and we
04:45 - 04:47
went biking for the weekend on, and it was a
04:47 - 04:48
lot of fun.
04:49 - 04:52
So we don't do anything super intense, but we love
04:52 - 04:54
being out in the woods and breaking for several hours
04:55 - 04:58
and then, um, just enjoying each other's company outside.
04:59 - 05:03
So I love being outside hiking, biking, those type of
05:03 - 05:09
things. And lastly, um, LaForce migrating.
05:09 - 05:11
It's something that I got to do a lot more
05:12 - 05:13
when I was younger than I moved back here.
05:13 - 05:15
And, um, I get to do it again.
05:15 - 05:18
We don't have a horse, but we I take some
05:18 - 05:20
lessons and, um, it's fun and exciting.
05:21 - 05:23
A particular Like I said, I love being outside, um,
05:23 - 05:24
in the woods.
05:25 - 05:27
And so we do a lot of trail riding up
05:27 - 05:30
Import Valley or about massive Dutton.
05:30 - 05:33
So, uh, that is my horse.
05:33 - 05:35
That was, uh, that I had one summer when I
05:35 - 05:39
was living in Colorado, um, as, ah, working at a
05:39 - 05:39
re inch.
05:39 - 05:44
And his name was Navajo anyways.
05:44 - 05:46
And my last thing is that I love to travel,
05:46 - 05:47
but I'm a Spanish teacher.
05:47 - 05:50
So last summer I got to visit my best friend
05:50 - 05:53
and speed, Um, bearing am overlooking Barcelona.
05:54 - 05:58
Um and, um I, uh, any chance that I can
05:58 - 06:02
get to be able to travel trying to travel, You
06:02 - 06:04
know, we like to stay in people's homes or in
06:05 - 06:08
hostels. So right now it's on a very good time
06:08 - 06:11
to travel, but anywhere that Spanish speaking or have been
06:11 - 06:13
to other countries, like I stayed in South Africa over
06:13 - 06:14
a summer.
06:14 - 06:18
Um, and I've been to Israel, Um, so just any
06:18 - 06:20
time that I get get a chance to go and
06:20 - 06:22
travel. But I don't like to just go see, you
06:22 - 06:25
know, the sights and the sounds that are, like super
06:25 - 06:27
popular. But I like to be, um, hanging out with
06:28 - 06:28
the people at the locals.
06:30 - 06:31
That's a little bit about me.
06:31 - 06:32
I can't wait to get to know some more about
06:33 - 06:33
you guys
