  9. So what is work from home?
  10. Burn out Burnout happens when people can't separate their work
  11. life from their home life.
  12. You know, from experience.
  13. When I first started working remotely, I've learned that it
  14. was really difficult to know when my workday ended and
  15. when my own life began and it definitely got frustrating.
  16. At times it feels like you're constantly being on and
  17. connected on, and it could make you feel exhausted physically
  18. and emotionally.
  19. So this workshop is going to be discussing some symptoms
  20. of work from home burn out as well as some
  21. things that we could be doing and putting in place
  22. to kind of help us through this burnout to try
  23. to avoid, um ah, full on explosion.
  24. So some symptoms and how to recognize if burnout is
  25. happening to you are losing track of tasks, not completing
  26. your work on time, going through moods, feelings like anger,
  27. irritability, sadness, experiencing symptoms of depression like hopefulness.
  28. Lots of interesting things, especially in things that you really
  29. enjoy doing.
  30. And even fatigue, feeling discouraged about work and how things
  31. are going.
  32. Getting poor sleep, experiencing insomnia are having difficulty falling asleep.
  33. Maybe you're drinking more alcohol than usual or drinking to
  34. cope. You may be experiencing physical symptoms such as chest
  35. pain, headaches, increased illness, hurt competitions, dizziness, faint fainting or
  36. even some stomach pain.
  37. It's really important that we pay attention to how our
  38. bodies feeling, because burnout make sure physically before you actually
  39. recognize it rationally.
  40. Our bodies are good indicators.
  41. Whether it's tension in our joints, our body will always
  42. keep score.
  43. So how do we recover from work from home?
  44. Burn out.
  45. I'll be going over four or five ideas on things
  46. that you can implement in your daily routine to kind
  47. of help you avoid this burnout.
  48. One of these things is to take time off.
  49. Even though we're in upto pandemic, it's really important to
  50. still take those that time off from work to kind
  51. of help reset things for you.
  52. If we could start implementing some of these suggestions now
  53. and for the long term, it's definitely gonna help you
  54. from getting burned out again.
  55. Burn out is often a cycle, and it can be
  56. a chronic condition.
  57. So what can we dio?
  58. The first thing we could do is take control.
  59. We can take control of what we can take control
  60. of our surroundings, our behavior, how we eat, how do
  61. you sleep or how often we exercise eating regular meals,
  62. even if it means scheduling the time on your calendar
  63. to take off for your meal or your lunch break,
  64. you're more likely Thio.
  65. Choose healthier snacks, which in the long run will energize
  66. you throughout the day.
  67. If you do have a tendency to braise all day,
  68. make sure your stocked up with those healthy snacks developing
  69. a bedtime routine will also help you sleep better.
  70. So once you figure out what symptoms you're having, you
  71. can implement some of these things to help you get
  72. out of that routine.
  73. So maybe try putting phone down for 30 30 minutes
  74. before bedtime.
  75. You can try lotions, candles, meditation or even try writing
  76. in your journal.
  77. Doing these tasks every day will help boost your mood
  78. and kind of let your brain know that it's time
  79. for bed.
  80. Another stuff we could take is talk to our boss
  81. now. This one's might seem strange.
  82. If you don't have a really good relationship or connection
  83. with your boss, it's really good to build a relationship,
  84. and this is the best time to do it.
  85. This way.
  86. You can meet with them maybe 15 minutes every month
  87. just to kind of go over and identify things that
  88. you might be having issues with.
  89. If you're going into the meeting, be prepared.
  90. Write down your major points.
  91. You'd like Thio convey any questions you like to ask
  92. and take notes during the meeting.
  93. This may help with some of your anxiety and stress
  94. with work related issues.
  95. Create boundaries and routine for work.
  96. The most important thing that I found that helped me
  97. the most was creating my own work space.
  98. That space was for work and work only.
  99. I also created my work hours, and another thing we
  100. can do is kind of maker hours a little more
  101. flexible when we're at home.
  102. Try not to answer any emails outside of the working
  103. hours that you set up.
  104. Take your lunch break away from your computer.
  105. Try taking a 15 to 30 minute break each day,
  106. creating a routine prior to starting work each day, we'll
  107. help your brain become prepared.
  108. Toe work and focus.
  109. Schedule some me time.
  110. Take a five minute break each morning and afternoon.
  111. You don't have to do anything specific.
  112. Just try and stay away from the computer.
  113. Having these small little breaks helps reset you.
  114. It's important for our brains to be able to take
  115. a break from often okay, various tasks, even if it's
  116. just for a short period of time.
  117. Yeah, During these little breaks, you can do things that
  118. you enjoy, like playing with a pet, pursuing a happy,
  119. having dedicated alone time.
  120. These things will decrease stress, and it will take your
  121. mind off work and then ultimately boost your work performance.
  122. Another step we can take is to connect with someone.
  123. This could be a therapist, a friend, a family member.
  124. Just don't isolate yourself too much.
  125. A lot of the things that we enjoy doing have
  126. been ripped from us due to social distancing.
  127. But we can still call and chat with a friend.
  128. A therapist can help you plan to talk to your
  129. boss and manage burn out in other ways where your
  130. family member or a friend can level with you because
  131. they're feeling the same types of feelings that you are.
  132. And it will remind you that you're not alone.
  133. We're here to let you know that you are not
  134. alone. So if you need to reach out to a
  135. career advisor so that we can help you with your
  136. job search Or maybe you just need someone to talk
  137. to you.
  138. We're here for you.
  139. Thank you for attending this weekly workshop and we hope
  140. to see you next Wednesday.
