  1. Hello all and welcome to a P formatting.
  2. Just the basics.
  3. I will do a quick overview of a p A
  4. and what that looks like from the most basic standpoint
  5. to get you off on the right foot with your
  6. A p A paper.
  7. First things first, do your page set up.
  8. Go in and set your one inch margins.
  9. 12 point font times new Roman double spacing.
  10. There is a spot later on where we'll talk about
  11. a little bit of single spacing that occurs.
  12. But for the most part, you're gonna want to keep
  13. your double spacing all the way through Moving into headers.
  14. Probably the most complicated part off a p A is
  15. understanding Headers.
  16. Your last name and page number will be in the
  17. right hand corner right up here.
  18. It should say your last name, which minus Sutcliffe and
  19. the page number.
  20. So Sutcliffe one would be on my first page here
  21. on the left hand side.
  22. It gets quite a bit more complicated because that one
  23. changes Where is on the right hand side.
  24. Over here on Lee, the page number will change when
  25. you're talking about the left hand side.
  26. Your very first page is going to be a little
  27. bit different.
  28. This is your title page.
  29. We'll talk about that in the next sub point, but
  30. right up here you are going to have running head
  31. with the title.
  32. Now, this might be a shortened version of your title
  33. just because it probably won't fit with the addition of
  34. running head.
  35. So I'll say running Head Colon and have a shortened
  36. version of your title.
  37. Once you move on to the second page, that running
  38. head will be removed.
  39. You will then just have your title in that upper
  40. left hand portion.
  41. From there on out, it will stay the same.
  42. It will not change.
  43. So from two page two on your paper should look
  44. identical in the heading except for the page number changing
  45. moving on from headers.
  46. We will move into the first page, which is your
  47. title page.
  48. Uh, speaking of title page, it is because title is
  49. your number one spot on there.
  50. You are going to center up your paper.
  51. You will go about about a quarter of the way
  52. down. Ah, third of the way down and you will
  53. put in your title of your paper.
  54. The subtitle of your paper or if applicable Um, this
  55. is not a requirement.
  56. It just for some people they do a more descriptive
  57. subtitle. Then you will add your college will use its
  58. prestigious name.
  59. As an example of this, I go to Chico State.
  60. I do not write Chico State on my paper.
  61. I will write California State University, Chico on there.
  62. That is its prestigious and formal name.
  63. You want to give yourself a ZX much of a
  64. boost and credibility as possible.
  65. You will then put your name at the very bottom.
  66. This can either be the first initial of your first
  67. name and your full last name or it could be
  68. your entire name.
  69. Either way, neither one.
  70. It makes much of a difference unless there are multiple
  71. authors. This being said, please do not include the date
  72. on their do not include the class of which it
  73. is for you Will Onley put these items for a
  74. P A moving forward.
  75. You will have your reference page.
  76. This is what you finished with for most people.
  77. I actually start with my reference page just because it's
  78. a little more complicated.
  79. But you, Alicia references alphabetically by author's last name, you
  80. will single space within your reference.
  81. So within the reference, if it is two lines, those
  82. two lines should be single space between each other.
  83. But when you have multiple sources between the two different
  84. sources, you will have double spacing that could be complicated.
  85. You will also have a hanging indent, which means instead
  86. of where with paragraphs, the first line is indented.
  87. You'll instead see that the first line is not indented,
  88. and the rest of the lines are indented.
  89. You normally have a formatting button on your word processor
  90. that is capable of doing that for you.
  91. That's gonna be in another video where we discuss exactly
  92. what typed references look like.
  93. I hope this helps you out and give you a
  94. good overview of the A P A.
  95. Basics. Hopefully, I see you again and you check out
  96. some more off our A P a.
