00:02 - 00:05
our group decided to do a photo booth project
00:06 - 00:10
and the group members consisted of me, Eliza, Rinehart,
00:10 - 00:13
Matt Waterman and matt Samuelson
00:13 - 00:17
And we did this project for Information Systems 40 53.
00:19 - 00:21
So a little bit about our project.
00:21 - 00:26
Our goal was to create a photo booth in the business career center at marquette,
00:26 - 00:28
in the new business building.
00:28 - 00:32
And our main goal was to help students update
00:32 - 00:36
and upgrade photos for job related social media's like
00:36 - 00:39
linkedin or handshake or other
00:39 - 00:40
job
00:41 - 00:45
sites that they may be using to find a job after they graduate.
00:47 - 00:53
So we wanted to do this by setting up a camera linked to a laptop with a
00:53 - 00:57
professional looking background in um,
00:58 - 01:00
near the business career center because we thought that
01:00 - 01:04
this would create a wonderful opportunity for students.
01:04 - 01:09
Um, it would have easy access for the students so that they wouldn't have to um
01:10 - 01:13
go somewhere else to have a professional photo taken
01:14 - 01:15
and this could be
01:16 - 01:18
a great tool for students to use
01:19 - 01:24
as they're applying for jobs. Um, one of the things we all noticed as a group was that
01:24 - 01:26
a lot of students use
01:27 - 01:31
photos from high school from their senior senior photos and
01:31 - 01:34
photos that are outdated or may not look very professional
01:35 - 01:41
and this is something we want to help market students with so that we are looking
01:42 - 01:45
very employable to our future employers.
01:47 - 01:49
So some of our project goals,
01:50 - 01:55
we wanted to successfully provide the photo booth service to students um,
01:55 - 01:58
as I mentioned earlier and we wanted to create
01:58 - 02:00
an option for students that was on campus,
02:00 - 02:01
as many
02:01 - 02:04
underclassman may not have cars or an ability
02:04 - 02:08
to go elsewhere to take a professional photo as
02:08 - 02:12
well as they may not have the funds to have that taken right now in their lives.
02:13 - 02:15
Um, so we thought this um
02:15 - 02:16
option would
02:17 - 02:21
be easily accessible for students and there's really no reason why
02:21 - 02:22
they wouldn't be able to
02:23 - 02:26
um make use of this opportunity.
02:26 - 02:30
So we also wanted to ensure that our photos we were providing would be high quality
02:30 - 02:33
for the students and that they are professional
02:33 - 02:36
photos that an employer can look at and think
02:37 - 02:40
um, that's someone that I would want to hire at my company.
02:40 - 02:43
I think it's something that employers really look at when
02:43 - 02:47
they're looking at candidates and that can sometimes get overlooked.
02:47 - 02:48
Um,
02:48 - 02:54
sadly in society we still do judge people on their appearance a lot and so I
02:54 - 02:57
think it's really important for students to be
02:57 - 03:02
looking their best on different social media platforms.
03:03 - 03:06
So we also think this is a way to make
03:06 - 03:08
marquette look more appealing for
03:08 - 03:11
potential future business students at marquette
03:11 - 03:13
um, or any student, I guess really,
03:13 - 03:17
because not only business students can take advantage of that, anyone
03:18 - 03:21
at marquette can take advantage of this. Um,
03:22 - 03:24
we think when people are going on their tours
03:24 - 03:27
looking to see which college is right for them,
03:27 - 03:28
this is something that
03:28 - 03:31
might make marquette look more appealing
