00:01 - 00:03
Hello. My name is chris Winter home.
00:03 - 00:05
I'm excited to do this video and hopefully you get
00:05 - 00:07
a chance to learn a little bit more about me.
00:08 - 00:10
I wanted to share a few photos with you.
00:10 - 00:12
Uh This is my wife Margo.
00:12 - 00:15
Uh We took this photo a long time ago.
00:15 - 00:16
This is one of our engagement photos.
00:17 - 00:20
She and I got married back in 2004 and we
00:20 - 00:21
now have four Children together.
00:22 - 00:25
This is our oldest daughter, Autumn, she's a freshman in
00:25 - 00:25
high school.
00:27 - 00:31
We've got our second dollar daughter Marley, who's 1/7 grader
00:31 - 00:32
in junior high.
00:33 - 00:35
And then we've got to elementary school kids.
00:35 - 00:39
We've got Acadia in 6th grade and indie in fourth
00:40 - 00:42
grade. And if you're asking yourself does he have four
00:42 - 00:44
daughters? Uh the answer is yes, yes, I do.
00:47 - 00:49
Um the other two members of our family are these
00:49 - 00:50
tool puppies right here.
00:50 - 00:52
We've got mira on the left and willow on the
00:52 - 00:57
right. Um they're both about four years old and that's
00:57 - 00:58
our tiny little family.
01:01 - 01:03
One thing about us that you may not get from
01:03 - 01:06
our application is we love sports.
01:06 - 01:10
Um specifically we love BYU athletics, whether it's football, basketball,
01:11 - 01:16
anything relating to BYU sports, but most of all we
01:16 - 01:16
love the phoenix suns.
01:17 - 01:19
We were so happy that they made it to the
01:19 - 01:21
NBA finals and came so close to winning their first
01:21 - 01:25
championship and we had a a lot of fun rooting
01:25 - 01:25
for them this year.
01:29 - 01:30
This is the three of us.
01:30 - 01:34
We recently did a sprint triathlon where we um did
01:34 - 01:38
a 400 m swim, 12 mile bike ride and then
01:38 - 01:38
ran a five K.
01:39 - 01:41
My older two daughters actually came in 1st and 2nd
01:41 - 01:42
in their age division.
01:46 - 01:46
This is us.
01:46 - 01:49
The graduation, I went to Arizona State University and graduated
01:50 - 01:52
summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Biology.
01:54 - 01:56
And then in the summer of 2018 I started dental
01:57 - 01:58
school at 80 still university.
02:01 - 02:03
Um since being at 80 still I've had some great
02:03 - 02:08
opportunities to do research and to attend conferences like here.
02:09 - 02:11
The american Dental Society of Anesthesiology is annual conference.
02:15 - 02:19
So what led me to dental anesthesiology and specifically Illinois
02:19 - 02:23
Masonic? um I got hooked with dental anesthesiology from day
02:23 - 02:28
one I went and was introduced to it by D.
02:28 - 02:32
A. at 80 still and decided to go out and
02:33 - 02:33
start shadowing.
02:34 - 02:37
And from the first time I shadowed I fell in
02:37 - 02:38
love with it.
02:38 - 02:40
I loved everything about it.
02:40 - 02:43
The pharmacology, the physiology, the patient management.
02:44 - 02:47
I loved everything about it and that was early in
02:47 - 02:48
D two year.
02:48 - 02:50
And ever since then I've been hooked and done.
02:51 - 02:53
I've tried to do everything I can to make sure
02:53 - 02:53
I get into residency.
02:55 - 02:59
Um What specifically led me to Illinois Masonic is um
03:00 - 03:05
the lasting legacy that their residents that your residents are
03:06 - 03:08
going to leave on the field of the uh dental
03:08 - 03:13
anesthesia. Um The residents said Illinois Masonic are in a
03:13 - 03:16
unique position to be pioneers in their program.
03:17 - 03:19
They are going to be the ones that develop a
03:19 - 03:27
program that will train future dent dentist anesthesiologists and I
03:27 - 03:28
think that is an amazing opportunity.
03:32 - 03:34
I know you're looking for superstars and you're asking if
03:34 - 03:38
I'm that type of person in your presentation, you brought
03:38 - 03:43
up one word indefatigable and I think that is an
03:43 - 03:43
excellent word.
03:44 - 03:46
And the other word that I would kind of go
03:46 - 03:47
along with it is grit.
03:47 - 03:50
So you get you know, not only strength of body
03:50 - 03:52
but strength of character to with those two words.
03:53 - 03:57
And I would I feel like those two words kind
03:57 - 04:02
of define who I am um when you bring me
04:03 - 04:05
into your program, I'm not going to be the type
04:06 - 04:10
of person that just You know, checks in works in
04:10 - 04:13
the hospital for his you know 60 hours and then
04:13 - 04:14
goes home at the end of the day.
04:14 - 04:17
You know, I'm the kind of person that's going to
04:17 - 04:22
give you 100% effort, 100% of the time where I'm
04:22 - 04:26
there to take advantage of every opportunity possible to be
04:26 - 04:33
the best Dynasty Dennis anesthesiologist that I can be dental
04:33 - 04:37
anesthesiology is like any other field, especially in the mobile
04:37 - 04:40
aspects where you're going from office to office and you're
04:40 - 04:40
by yourself.
04:42 - 04:44
Um it takes a lot of character, a lot of
04:44 - 04:47
strength, a lot of fortitude to be able to handle
04:47 - 04:50
those situations and a lot of preparation, but I think
04:51 - 04:55
by doing those things, you're creating an environment where people
04:55 - 04:59
can get access to care that may not otherwise receive
04:59 - 05:00
it, which is a great opportunity.
05:05 - 05:08
So tell us someone uh when I was working in
05:08 - 05:09
a group and and they didn't pull their weight.
05:10 - 05:13
So um I came across this more in undergrad that
05:13 - 05:16
in dental school, but um I specifically had a class,
05:16 - 05:20
a zoology of vertebrate zoology class where um we were
05:20 - 05:22
doing a presentation and one of the group members wasn't
05:23 - 05:24
doing what he was supposed to and it was kind
05:24 - 05:24
of stressful.
05:26 - 05:29
Honestly what we did is we communicated with him to
05:29 - 05:30
try to find out what we could do to help.
05:31 - 05:34
And it turned out that his mom was sick and
05:34 - 05:36
so he was having to work more to kind of
05:36 - 05:40
help support his family um by communicating with him well
05:41 - 05:43
and trying to help work around his schedule.
05:43 - 05:46
We actually were able to create a great presentation and
05:47 - 05:51
it wasn't um a lot of additional effort on our
05:51 - 05:54
part, it was just a matter of additional communication that
05:54 - 06:01
we had to give um describe an experience where I
06:02 - 06:03
I had conflict with a classmate or co worker.
06:04 - 06:06
Um I kind of, recently this past week had an
06:06 - 06:10
incident where I was mentoring D.
06:10 - 06:11
Two with his first surgical extraction.
06:13 - 06:17
Um Our communication styles were a little different and it
06:17 - 06:19
kind of made it for a stressful situation for both
06:19 - 06:19
of us.
06:20 - 06:26
What I would go do now is um again communicate
06:26 - 06:30
better with him, I would probably ask better questions on
06:31 - 06:33
you know what my expectations were and what I knew
06:34 - 06:35
his expectations were of the procedure.
06:36 - 06:38
Um So that way it would run a little bit
06:38 - 06:41
smoother. Um Everything turned out ok.
06:41 - 06:42
We got it was an excellent extraction.
06:43 - 06:48
Um but uh I think a little bit better communication
06:49 - 06:50
between the two of us would have made it a
06:50 - 06:51
little smoother.
06:52 - 06:55
Thank you so much for your time and have a
06:55 - 06:55
great day.
