  1. Hello again.
  2. Um I got cut off in my last video.
  3. So this is the continuation of it.
  4. Prezi uh frame.
  5. There we go.
  6. So the first six months of resettlement, the first six
  7. months of planning a resettlement is a very stressful time
  8. for refugees.
  9. But within this time frame the planning resettlement refugees must
  10. consider their safety.
  11. Well, they'll be moving.
  12. How did they get there was to eat and drink
  13. and while living there um where they will be living
  14. in the resettlement.
  15. Until then um the UNhcR is helping with this process.
  16. But um once the resettlement is planned, the refugees have
  17. the stress of still getting new jobs income where the
  18. Children will need to be safety, family reunification, legal needs,
  19. protection needs departure among many other things.
  20. The whole process is very stressful, inevitably the strength of
  21. the process is that um the yugoslav war was actually
  22. a perfect example of but not to do kind of.
  23. Um the UNhcr definitely grappled with helping the refugees.
  24. So they definitely struggled a lot.
  25. But because of this, they had they finally gains the
  26. strength of coordination, standard operating procedures, safeguards, combating fraud, security
  27. management expectations, tracking statistics among many other things that I
  28. bulleted. Yeah.
  29. The rules of the social workers I definitely mentioned before
  30. and the transformative social work approaches um go more into
  31. how the social workers will help the people one on
  32. one. Um this approach helps them focus on mental health,
  33. Children and families, diversity, global and international social work.
  34. And overall there's just more potential for the refugees and
  35. families to feel more involved in their future.
  36. So rather than social workers planning out for them, they're
  37. working one on one and it makes a stronger plan
  38. that benefits everyone.
  39. Mhm. Yeah.
  40. Mhm. And part five is integrating your learning.
  41. Uh some of the commonalities and differences that I noticed.
  42. The main difference I found when researching about the Croatian
  43. refugees was that there was quite a few time periods
  44. of research um when looking into the refugee groups and
  45. resettlement plans, there was a lot of information about present
  46. day relocation rather than right now Rather than the 1990s.
  47. Um which was what I was looking more into.
  48. There's definitely a lot of information on both, but it
  49. came up quite a few times.
  50. A commonality I found was that the purpose of resettlement
  51. in many circumstances.
  52. Um and the need for relocation is due for due
  53. to war.
  54. In this case it was the U.
  55. S. Law of war.
  56. Uh What might have a kind of both commonalities and
  57. differences. Um A reason for the difference would be the
  58. corruption that is occurring in Croatia.
  59. I very much underestimated the severity of the life threatening
  60. circumstances that creates have to endure.
  61. Um Not only during the U.
  62. S. Law of war but now today.
  63. Um Well the country is seen as an overall well
  64. doing country.
  65. Um There are definitely aspects that they need to improve
  66. to help their own citizens.
  67. The reason for the commonality was that that I had
  68. not accounted for with the overall tension of the government
  69. systems around the world within the last 50 years, many
  70. countries and nations have been struggling with similar political scenarios
  71. such as the red scare.
  72. Yeah. Yeah.
  73. Um where these refugees refugee populations food within a strengthened
  74. human rights lens within their treatment, I would say that
  75. in some cases they were phenomenal during the U.
  76. S. Law of war.
  77. Many women were discriminated against on the basis of gender
  78. and war crimes were taken out against them regarding that.
  79. Um However, the L.
  80. G. B.
  81. T. Q.
  82. I. A community and persons of color did not seem
  83. to be considered as strong components in this war.
  84. And what would you suggest might improve the circumstances of
  85. people called refugees?
  86. I think that to improve the circumstances for Croatian refugees,
  87. the government owes these people informed Congress compensation being that
  88. only one third of their populations back in their country
  89. now or back in their homeland.
  90. Um, I think that they owe them some form of
  91. support whether or not it's homes financially or somewhere another.
  92. I think they owe it to them.
  93. Mhm, mm.
  94. And thank you for watching.
  95. Thank you for an amazing semester.
  96. And I hope you have a wonderful summer and I
  97. hope I get to be taught by you another semester
  98. soon.
