00:01 - 00:03
Hey, otters, it's your dean of students, Mrs Firth.
00:04 - 00:04
Welcome back.
00:04 - 00:05
It's 2021.
00:06 - 00:08
We're officially done with the year 2020 and I'm hopeful,
00:09 - 00:12
as I'm sure most of you are, but 2021 is
00:12 - 00:14
going to be a better year for us than 2020
00:14 - 00:15
turned out to be.
00:16 - 00:17
So let's talk about what's new in the virtual office
00:18 - 00:18
this week.
00:18 - 00:20
So our dean messages new, and we have a new
00:21 - 00:23
positive affirmation to kick off 2021.
00:24 - 00:25
Our book recommendation and read aloud.
00:26 - 00:26
Corner is updated.
00:27 - 00:29
We're going to be starting a new book.
00:29 - 00:31
It's a shorter book, but I think it's one that
00:31 - 00:34
a lot of you would be very interested in, especially
00:34 - 00:36
if you have read the book.
00:36 - 00:39
Wonder by our Jay Palacios or you've seen the movie
00:39 - 00:42
Wonder. I think this book is right up your alley,
00:42 - 00:45
so make sure you check that out, and then our
00:45 - 00:48
Otter radio this week is just to welcome you back
00:48 - 00:50
because we're so happy that you're back and that it's
00:50 - 00:53
2021 that we're gonna finish out the rest of our
00:54 - 00:54
school year strong.
00:56 - 01:00
So we're going to continue with our positive affirmations into
01:00 - 01:01
this year.
01:01 - 01:03
And before we went on break, we looked at all
01:03 - 01:07
of my problems have solutions today And as we move
01:08 - 01:11
into 2021 we kicked, we kicked this week off our
01:12 - 01:12
positive affirmation.
01:13 - 01:15
We're going to say to ourselves to start this year
01:15 - 01:18
off is today I am a leader.
01:19 - 01:24
I love this because for me this means Today I
01:24 - 01:29
am going Thio not follow the crowd today I am
01:30 - 01:34
not going Thio be left behind.
01:34 - 01:39
Today I am a leader and leadership looks so many
01:39 - 01:39
different ways.
01:39 - 01:41
It doesn't mean that you have to be front and
01:41 - 01:43
center doing everything, but it means can be very quiet
01:44 - 01:45
leadership things too.
01:45 - 01:50
But, you know, leadership can look like, um you know,
01:50 - 01:55
following those expectations Or, um, you know, making sure that
01:56 - 01:58
you're one of the first ones to participate in a
01:58 - 02:01
discussion and kind of leading the charge and inviting others
02:01 - 02:02
to participate as well.
02:03 - 02:05
Um, those Airways, that you could be a leader and
02:06 - 02:09
I truly believe that every single one of us has
02:09 - 02:12
the ability to be a leader inside each and every
02:12 - 02:12
one of us.
02:13 - 02:16
So, um, today you are a leader today I am
02:17 - 02:19
a leader and I want you to continue saying that.
02:19 - 02:21
And I want you to also think about what does
02:21 - 02:23
it mean to be a leader synchronously?
02:24 - 02:26
What does it mean to be a leader at home?
02:26 - 02:28
What is what is it going to mean to be
02:28 - 02:29
a leader when we're back at school?
02:30 - 02:31
So I want you guys to think about that.
02:33 - 02:35
Other than that, I want you guys to keep up
02:35 - 02:36
the good work.
02:36 - 02:40
We are so happy that we're back together and we
02:40 - 02:43
know that, um there may be a shift at some
02:43 - 02:45
point of what school is gonna look like.
02:45 - 02:47
But for right now, we're going to continue with rocking
02:48 - 02:50
our synchronous and asynchronous learning.
02:51 - 02:53
I know your teachers air super excited that you guys
02:53 - 02:53
air back.
02:54 - 02:56
We are working hard to put some things together so
02:57 - 02:58
you guys can feel connected to us.
02:58 - 03:00
And that information is going to be coming soon.
03:02 - 03:03
Until that time, take care.
03:04 - 03:06
And as always, you are never far from my thoughts
03:07 - 03:07
