  1. in year one.
  2. And welcome to Math today.
  3. Today we're going to be looking at fact families.
  4. So looking at this green, we've got on adding sentence.
  5. Five AB eight equals 13.
  6. So we fought one set of 51 set of eight
  7. on when we've added them together.
  8. Our whole is 13 on it.
  9. Doesn't matter whether I start with five or with eight.
  10. I will always have the same hole, so you can
  11. see that I can write five.
  12. Add eight, or I can add eight.
  13. Add five.
  14. Aiken, switch them round.
  15. It doesn't matter which way I had which number I
  16. choose to add first.
  17. Okay, so we're going to have a look at some
  18. fact families where we're going to have some numbers.
  19. Ah, nde.
  20. Then we are going to see if we can write
  21. to adding sentences on dhe to take away sentences.
  22. Okay, let's look at the first one together.
  23. Okay? So we're going to look at the picture off
  24. this tens frame, so I've got four red counters which
  25. are going to be my four blue counters.
  26. Ah, nde.
  27. I've got some the rest so that other remaining counters,
  28. which is six are yellow.
  29. So I'm going to use My green counters are the
  30. same as the yellow ones.
  31. Okay, so I have got 10 counters.
  32. All together I've got four blue, which are the red
  33. ones on the picture on dhe six green, which are
  34. the yellow ones in the picture.
  35. So let's have a think about how I could show
  36. this in some adding sentences.
  37. So if I was to come up with some sentences,
  38. I could have six at four.
  39. Or I could have four Ad six.
  40. Let's see if I can do that with my adding
  41. sentences. Lovely four.
  42. Ad six or six.
  43. Add four.
  44. Okay, now I've got to think of two takeaways, so
  45. I've starting with 10.
  46. That's my total on.
  47. I'm now going to see if I can take away
  48. for how many?
  49. Um, I left with year one six.
  50. Brilliant. If I did 10, take away six.
  51. How many am I left with four.
  52. Let's see if I'm right.
  53. Perfect four Ad six is 10 6.
  54. Add four is 10 10 Take away four leaves me
  55. with 6 10 take away six leaves me with four.
  56. Okay. Excellent.
  57. So as you can see, I'm only ever using three
  58. numbers in my fact family.
  59. In this case, it's 46 on dhe 10.
  60. There my three numbers on dhe.
  61. I will always use those numbers to create this fact.
  62. Family. Four number sentences.
  63. Let's have a look at the next one together.
  64. Thesis time.
  65. We've got 12.
  66. But this time it looks like we've got four.
  67. A lot of thes.
  68. So we don't get confused for yellow counters or, in
  69. my case, green counters.
  70. And then I've got eight.
  71. Who knew you?
  72. Kansas. Okay, Can you think?
  73. Often? Adding sentence.
  74. Then how Maney play as how many grain?
  75. Great. I could have eight Add four or four at
  76. eight. Let's see if we're right.
  77. Amazing. Great job.
  78. So now we've got to do are take aways.
  79. We've got 12.
  80. It doesn't matter if I decided to take away the
  81. green counters or the blue counters first.
  82. Because as long as I get both take away sentences
  83. so I'm going to do 12 take away for leaves
  84. me with eight or 12.
  85. Take away eight leaves me with four.
  86. Okay, let's have a look.
  87. Amazing next example.
  88. All this time we've got 16, so I need nine
  89. red counters in my case there blue.
  90. Andi, I need 1234 567 green counters.
  91. Okay, so I've got nine at seven equals 16.
  92. Seven at nine equals 16.
  93. There we go.
  94. You can see the two adding sentences now, before I
  95. tell you what the take away sentences are.
  96. Can you work from out?
  97. I've got 16 in total.
  98. If I take away the Yellow Countess, how many are
  99. left? 16.
  100. Take away seven equals nine on Dhe.
  101. Then I can swap those numbers.
  102. Background 16.
  103. Take away seven equals nine.
  104. Okay, Brilliant.
  105. Now I think I've got ah few mawr examples.
  106. Eso we'll do this last one together.
  107. OK, so this time we've got seven red counters on
  108. We've been given no help.
  109. Um, to make our number sentences now.
  110. So I've got seven Blue Countess Ah, nde three, 5678
  111. green counters or yellow counters.
  112. So how many counters have I got altogether?
  113. Year one.
  114. I've got one full tens frame and then half attends
  115. frame. I got 15 all together, So let me go.
  116. 12345677 Ad eight equals 15 or eight.
  117. Add seven equals 15 Just like you concede e on
  118. the screen.
  119. Take away then I've got 15.
  120. If I take away the seven, I've got eight left.
  121. If I take away the eight, I'm left with the
  122. seven. So let's have a look on.
  123. That is what our complete fact family looks like a
  124. great job.
  125. So moving on to your learning activity today there are
  126. two tasks and you can choose which one you would
  127. like to do.
  128. Both are practicing the same skill.
  129. One looks like this where you've got some counters, some
  130. red, some yellow.
  131. Just like the video on.
  132. You've got to take one of these tens frames on
  133. Dhe. You have got to create two adding sentences on
  134. dhe to take away sentences for this tense frame.
  135. So, looking at it, I've got three red counters on
  136. dhe five yellow counters, so I could write the number
  137. sentence. Three at five equals eight.
  138. I could write five.
  139. Add three equals eight.
  140. Eight. Take away.
  141. Three equals five.
  142. Eight. Take away.
  143. Five equals three.
  144. So I've got four number sentences to adding to taking
  145. away that are all different.
  146. Okay, Foots telling me four different things, but they all
  147. belong to the same family or fax.
  148. Okay, So again, you don't need to do the whole
  149. sheet. Maybe pick two or three examples to choose from
  150. and do four number sentences for each picture.
  151. If you don't need to see the counters, the counters
  152. are for Those of us like to be able to
  153. see things and cross them out or move them around
  154. or doing it practically with counters.
  155. This activity, you can see their families are all in
  156. their houses.
  157. You've been given the numbers this time in the roof,
  158. so there's three numbers that they're asking you to use
  159. on. Then you've got to form two edition sentences on
  160. dhe to subtraction sentences, ads and takeaways for each set
  161. of numbers.
  162. So here I've got 16 and seven on.
  163. That's a bit trickier because I've got toe.
  164. Absolutely no.
  165. Which one?
  166. Which way to organize these numbers without actually being able
  167. to see which ones are the biggest numbers?
  168. Okay, so again, you won't necessarily need to dual six
  169. houses. You may choose to do one or two of
  170. these examples.
  171. You may even choose to do one or two off
  172. thes and then do.
  173. A couple of those is entirely up to you.
  174. All we would like you to do is practice creating
  175. those fact families.
  176. Okay, so those four number sentences for those sets off
  177. numbers, Okay, right.
  178. Good luck.
  179. With today's learning task, tomorrow will be focusing on on
  180. it again.
  181. But we may not be doing it as practically tomorrow.
  182. OK, so enjoy.
  183. And I look forward to seeing your learning uploaded onto
  184. the platform.
  185. Have a good day.
  186. Bye, you one.
