00:01 - 00:03
Hi. My name is Shanteau Coleman and I work with
00:03 - 00:06
the full tinder cab Hospital Authority as a community, engage
00:06 - 00:08
er footing the cab.
00:08 - 00:13
Hospital Authority believes that the best organizes in diverse communities
00:13 - 00:16
are residents who live there with deep local relationships and
00:16 - 00:20
expertise on their community strengths and challenges As a community,
00:20 - 00:22
engage er I think it is best that we implement
00:23 - 00:27
action plans that will bring our community together as a
00:27 - 00:30
whole. It is very important that the community feels as
00:30 - 00:33
though they have been heard that they can be seen,
00:33 - 00:35
that they can actually engage with the stakeholders.
00:36 - 00:40
And I also just more so truly feel as though
00:40 - 00:43
they're being involved in the actions and decisions that are
00:43 - 00:48
made for the community that they live in action plans
00:48 - 00:48
and strategies.
00:49 - 00:51
That I feel is, though, would work best for the
00:51 - 00:56
community. A CE faras engaging in health equity would be
00:56 - 00:59
one to build relationships when I say we need to
00:59 - 01:03
build relationships, relationships needs to be built amongst the stakeholders
01:04 - 01:10
as well as the community partners that also exists in
01:10 - 01:10
the community.
01:11 - 01:13
Also, when I say that we need to build relationships,
01:14 - 01:19
also speak from experience of being ah, community member and
01:20 - 01:22
knowing how it feels to not feel connected with the
01:22 - 01:23
community that I live in.
01:23 - 01:27
When we think of building relationships, we also think of
01:28 - 01:32
engaging the community members and also making sure that they
01:32 - 01:35
are a part of the planning team there, that they're
01:35 - 01:37
actually planning the activities that they would like to see
01:37 - 01:38
in the community.
01:39 - 01:41
Another strategy is to listen to the community priorities.
01:44 - 01:49
My approach for reaching health equity is to have ah
01:49 - 01:54
Community Health Board that engages partners from the community as
01:55 - 01:57
well as the stakeholders so that they can all sit
01:57 - 02:00
in on board meetings where everybody can be listened to.
02:00 - 02:04
Everyone can engage, everyone can give their feedback their input.
02:04 - 02:10
And also, everyone can pretty much advanced health equity by
02:11 - 02:16
ensuring that there's different committees and boards and making that
02:16 - 02:20
there's connections and relationships with the organizer's as well, the
02:20 - 02:23
last action that I would definitely implement its to partner
02:23 - 02:26
with the community on this community health board.
02:27 - 02:31
What will happen is organizer's from all different parts of
02:31 - 02:33
the community will be able to come together in one
02:33 - 02:36
setting in one meeting and actually discuss what they think
02:37 - 02:39
is needed to improve the community.
02:40 - 02:42
They will be able to have the organizer's, the stakeholders
02:42 - 02:43
and the community members.
02:44 - 02:48
They're in action strategizing how to make the community a
02:48 - 02:51
better place for everyone again.
02:51 - 02:55
This is Shantel Coleman with the Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority.
02:56 - 02:57
And I hope you have a nice day.
02:58 - 02:59
Thank you.
