  1. Hello. My name is Ruth Colton.
  2. I am a student in the nursing 608 course entitled
  3. Philosophical Foundations of Nursing and at the Massive University.
  4. The following presentation Um, this is a summary of, ah,
  5. essay that I wrote entitled, Compared to contrast, the self
  6. care deficit theory and equality carried Model A ZX.
  7. We all know nursing theories are a combination of human
  8. inventions. They are patterns and help us understand find meaning,
  9. especially with regards to our nursing.
  10. The following scenario is that of a patient of which
  11. I took great care of.
  12. His name is Mr Smith.
  13. He was admitted to the hospital.
  14. Could ask television Am I?
  15. He unfortunately has recently experienced and increased amount of stress
  16. and job loss.
  17. The patient to decide to stop taking his anti hypertensive
  18. medication, consumed a significant amount of alcohol, did not follow
  19. the sodium restriction and is indeed a lifelong smoker.
  20. A self care theory created by Dorothy or um in
  21. the early 19 sixties encompasses wth e concept of the
  22. theory of self care, the theory of self care, deficit
  23. and the theory of the nursing system.
  24. Thes items as illustrated in this graphic here show that,
  25. indeed, to be able to perform nursing character some beauties
  26. there should be a deficit on behalf of the paychecks.
  27. The patient is to be considered a solitary of the
  28. health care circle, and that should be an integral part
  29. of decision making regarding their own health.
  30. The theory of self care focuses on patients corrective tasks
  31. that must be undertaken for their personal health condition.
  32. In the scenario of Mr Smith, there was questions regarding
  33. why he stopped taking his medication while he drank an
  34. excessive amount of alcohol, consumed, sodium and continues to smoke.
  35. At the end of the day, my nursing interventions were
  36. clear. They were to help Mr Smith understand that he
  37. needed to continue to take his medication I concepts of
  38. social work for assistance.
  39. With that help the patient understand that drinking an excessive
  40. amount of alcohol would not be conducive towards and helping
  41. his cardiac health, and they referred him to Alcoholics Anonymous.
  42. The patient continue to consume sodium before I referred him
  43. to a dietitian in order to help him understand sodium
  44. restrictions and indeed referred him to the smoking cessation program
  45. at the hospital, which was pretty, very well known helped
  46. him reduce his smoking.
  47. Continuing on to Joanne Duffy's quality carried model developed in
  48. the early two thousands, which would be considered a modern
  49. nursing model.
  50. A middle range theory, after all, supports the preservation and
  51. the essence of nursing within the realities of the modern
  52. healthcare system.
  53. This model explores four into 12 relationships, namely the self,
  54. the patient and family, one another and a larger community.
  55. This graphic of the quality carrying bottled health show this
  56. call again to explore this scenario of Mr Smith.
  57. We're going to the quality of care model.
  58. We discussed the fact that Mr Smith need to take
  59. it upon himself to help himself, to take those initiatives
  60. in those first steps to seek smoking cessation, to seek
  61. the assistance of Alcoholics Anonymous and to very much understand
  62. that in his early age, if he wished to be
  63. around later on in life for his family, he need
  64. to take care of himself.
  65. We also incorporated the patient's family in the decision making
  66. and included his wife in discharge teaching, including his wife,
  67. and counseling included his wife and follow up care with
  68. psychological support.
  69. We also considered one another in terms of nursing beliefs
  70. and systems as follows the larger community and supporting them
  71. in discussions ultimately is Bender states here.
  72. The relation sensing performance that continuously brings the inter relations
  73. of nursing person, environment and health into being is at
  74. the core of this model.
  75. In theory, we have just discussed both continued to explore
  76. the merit of paradigms of nursing and the professions.
  77. Apology or um encouraged me as a nurse to explore
  78. the patient's illness continuum from a patient perspective that of
  79. self care deficit and a patient centered care methodology form
  80. Siri emphasize health promotion from a scientific point of view.
  81. Definitely. On the other hand, her model continued to encourage
  82. me to look at patients care from a a variety
  83. of social sociological aspect ce.
  84. At the end of the day, there was indeed similarities
  85. in taking care of this patient, encouraging social work to
  86. help facilitate discharge, to facilitate the help, the most promotion
  87. stage of discharge and the emphasis on the importance of
  88. the multiples clarity approach to cardiac care.
  89. Without question, both these theories, including the model, helps support
  90. that of my own personal ontological view of nursing, and
  91. that is a relationship.
  92. Thank you for taking this time to listen to me
