  1. fantastic Friday.
  2. Archers. Here we are, with our final lesson on Tuck
  3. Everlasting before winter break.
  4. I hope everyone has a safe and fun break and
  5. that you're going to do great things and spend time
  6. with the people that you love.
  7. All right, so here we are.
  8. Tuck Everlasting chapter 19.
  9. It is getting good.
  10. All right, So this is the I call this chaos
  11. because this is when all the key components come together.
  12. Because at the beginning of the book, we had three
  13. different groups of people that we knew that were main
  14. characters in the book Winnie Foster, The Man in the
  15. Yellow Suit and the tux.
  16. And at the beginning of the book, if you remember
  17. it said that these three are going to be connected
  18. somehow. Well, the connection has happened in Chapter 19.
  19. They are all together at the tux cottage.
  20. So as we learn from chapter 18 at the end
  21. of that page, where we heard that knock on the
  22. door and they opened it and we knew done, done,
  23. done it was the man in the yellow suit.
  24. So sure enough, he showed up and he arrived early
  25. before the Constable got there because he wanted to have
  26. this conversation.
  27. So the conversation was very interesting because he shared with
  28. the tux that he was very aware of who they
  29. were. He found out their history from his grandmother, which
  30. it was very detailed Grandmother had shared with with him
  31. all the information about this peculiar family that didn't seem
  32. to age.
  33. They weren't sure what was going on with them, and
  34. he also shared with them that he was aware of
  35. May's music box.
  36. So if you go back, ah, few chapters when we
  37. first get introduced to the man in the yellow suit.
  38. When Winnie her grandmother and him are standing outside of
  39. their house in the evening and they hear the music
  40. box, he identifies with it.
  41. So he's thinking, I found my clue.
  42. I'm getting closer to what I want, and what he
  43. wants is to have control of the wood because he
  44. feels like it's a money maker.
  45. He can use this fountain of youth to be extremely
  46. wealthy. So now that we've come to all three of
  47. the main groups of people together at the tux home,
  48. the man in the yellow suit decides to tell them
  49. that he has actually acquired the land from the foster
  50. from the foster family, um, in the wood and that
  51. he would like to hire them to be his marketing
  52. and advertising for the Fountain of Youth, drinking the water
  53. out of the fountain to live forever.
  54. What? Of course, the tux are mad.
  55. They don't want that at all.
  56. They don't want anybody to drink out of that water.
  57. They don't want anyone to experience what they've experienced.
  58. So they are angry, and they get upset and they're
  59. fussing with him.
  60. He insults them.
  61. He caused them stupid and said that they could have
  62. made money by this a long time ago.
  63. Um, he's being super route to them.
  64. So he throws in there that he's gonna have Winnie
  65. drink the water and that she would be a better
  66. source of advertising because she's a child.
  67. And that brings more attraction.
  68. So as I can't even imagine the feeling in the
  69. household, I'm sure the air was thick and it was
  70. weird, and they're all having these conversations.
  71. So Mama Bear May decides she wants no parts of
  72. this. She wants this guy out of her house He's
  73. very negative.
  74. She picks up tux shotgun.
  75. And what does she do?
  76. She hits him in the back of the head and
  77. right on cue.
  78. Who shows up the constable so he sees everything.
  79. So it is going to be interesting what happens next
  80. in chapter 20 But don't read it over the break.
  81. I want you to read that when we get back.
  82. All right?
  83. So now we're going to talk about our literary device.
  84. So plot, which the plot has definitely they can in
  85. tuck everlasting.
  86. So I just wanna read, um, will not read, but
  87. go over five elements of a literary device for a
  88. plot. So you have the introduction, which we have already
  89. read that because that's the beginning of the book where
  90. it's set it up.
  91. And it talked about tree gap and how it looked.
  92. And we had a visual what it looked like.
  93. And we got toe meet Winnie, um, and then the
  94. setting where it was intrigued.
  95. Gap, which is where the forest is.
  96. We got to know the conflict.
  97. The conflict is that there was this family, the tux
  98. who drank this water that they did.
  99. They weren't aware of that was actually that actually had
  100. them living forever so that when their conflict was they
  101. didn't want anybody to know about it.
  102. So now we're at the rising action part where everybody
  103. is together.
  104. And now we see what is going to happen with
  105. this conflict and the end will be the climax.
  106. So obviously that when we have, like, I think, five
  107. more chapters, then we'll get to the climax.
  108. So this is basically how plats are broken down.
  109. You have those five elements the introduction, the setting, the
  110. conflict, the rising action and the climax.
  111. So now we're at the rising action, part of the
  112. fifth, the fourth element of the five elements of a
  113. plot of the story.
  114. Alright, archers.
  115. So your homework is to do your Google form.
  116. You are not reading Chapter 20.
  117. Don't do it and enjoy your winter break.
  118. I wish you all the best.
  119. I hope you have a great time with your family
  120. that you're staying safe and social distancing and we'll catch
  121. you in 2021
