Restorative Practices SI2023

Hi, everybody, Leah hacker here.

And I just wanted to share some information with

you about an opportunity that's coming up at Summer Institute

in a couple weeks for teams to come together and do some practice

and do some action planning for restorative community building at their sites.

Um We're having a restorative practices for secondary,

specifically diving deeper with tiers one and two.

It'll be a daylong opportunity

to get together and develop

more restorative skills,

figure out how to apply those skills across different settings.

And um also remember, be compensated for the time that you spend

in practice. The course number is there 18719.

So you can easily find that in the online course catalog.

But the day overall is gonna be very hands on

um really targeted and geared toward what individuals and

teams need to be focused on and making sure that

when you're there working with your team

and diving into these practices that you'll

be able to come away with a plan for how to apply them,

how to use them, how to make sure that the tools serve you

and develop um and build capacity schoolwide for students

to also become more skilled in restorative approaches.

So folks will come together from across all of our secondary sites

um and then take those practices back.

So the teams who attend the training are gonna be prepared to go back,

share it with colleagues,

maybe um do a little book study or just some practice and learning and building

together so that it will support folks

in positive climate and culture in classrooms,

but also create those spaces where students feel a sense of belonging um

and they are engaged and able to use their skills

so that they are more ready for content area instruction.
