  1. good morning.
  2. Today I'm still celebrating, as you could see, celebrating my
  3. Super Bowl wind, my buccaneers and and just up up
  4. today, reading from John, Chapter One, um, you know, looking
  5. at you know, this idea of wrapping up our rooted
  6. Siri's this week of Of Growing to be a disciple
  7. maker and this week will be looking in John, Chapter
  8. one, Verse 35 it says The next day John was
  9. there again with two of his disciples.
  10. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, Look, the
  11. lamb of God!
  12. When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed
  13. Jesus turning around.
  14. Jesus saw them following and asked, What do you want?
  15. They said, Rabbi, which means teacher, where are you staying?
  16. Come, he replied, and you will see.
  17. So they went and saw where he was staying, and
  18. they spent that day with him.
  19. Burroughs about four in the afternoon.
  20. Andrew Simon, Peter's brother, was one of the two who
  21. heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.
  22. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother,
  23. Simon, and tell him We have found the Messiah that
  24. is the Christ and he brought him to Jesus.
  25. Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon, son
  26. of John.
  27. You will be called safest.
  28. We just translated Peter.
  29. Okay, so we're going to dive into this a lot
  30. deeper on Sunday.
  31. But I just wanna look a TTE at two verbs
  32. here in this, uh, verse 41.
  33. It says that the first thing Andrew did was defined
  34. his brother and and tell him.
  35. And then verse 42 said that, and he brought him
  36. to Jesus.
  37. So in this whole idea of being a disciple, you
  38. know, he he found his brother Peter, and and then
  39. he brought him to Jesus.
  40. Isn't that really what disciple ships all about?
  41. Right? You know, having someone that God lays on our
  42. hearts to really develop a relationship with to be intentional
  43. about sharing our faith and then building a relationship in
  44. helping that person grow to be everything to God has
  45. called them to be, which is a long process.
  46. And that process is called discipleship and eso today and
  47. this week is we're thinking about this idea of discipleship.
  48. Um, you know, I just wanted to think about, you
  49. know, toe people that we need to have in our
  50. life, because the one thing that I'm convinced of and
  51. weaken, you know, really really lives out in our lives
  52. is that the process of discipleship never ends right, that
  53. we never come to the point where we are a
  54. fully developed and fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
  55. There's always more to learn.
  56. There's always more growth, the happen and so really in
  57. our lives.
  58. We need to have people who have gone before us,
  59. no older people, mentors who can disciple us and help
  60. us to walk through difficult path that they've already walked.
  61. We need to have people walking beside us, you know,
  62. people who are in the same stage of their spiritually
  63. journey. And we can encourage one another, hold one another
  64. accountable, and then we need to have people walking behind
  65. us, people that were mentoring people, that we're investing our
  66. lives. And so today I'm just wondering if if you
  67. would think about this idea who needs to be disciple
  68. dhe by you who you know.
  69. And we found Jesus in the same way that Andrew
  70. found Jesus.
  71. Now John the Baptist pointed the way, and then they
  72. came and said, You know, Jesus, We just want to
  73. spend our time with you.
  74. We want to be with you.
  75. And then not only did they find Jesus, but then
  76. they helped other people find Jesus.
  77. Well, Andrew helped his brother Simon Peter, find Jesus.
  78. Well, so let me ask you this today and to
  79. think about this throughout this week, who can you help
  80. find Jesus this week?
  81. And who is mentoring you?
  82. Whose disciple ing you?
  83. And who can you disciple?
  84. Um Father God today thank you for this opportunity that
  85. we always had Open your word and allowed to speak
  86. to us through the power of the Holy Spirit Lord
  87. way Say that we need to seek out the ones
  88. that we love and bring them to you.
  89. They might come to know you and and be saved
  90. into your family and began to walk lives of obedience
  91. for you until or lay people on our heart today
  92. that we need to bring to Jesus.
  93. We just pray all this in Jesus name I'm in
  94. Well, grace and peace have a wonderful day
