  11. to make this happen.

  31. what are some ways to provide outreach
  32. to the community using technology resources.
  33. Keep websites and social media sites updated.
  34. Many of us already utilize a school website to share information,
  35. keeping this website up to date with pertinent
  36. information will help keep the com community informed.
  37. Social media sites are also a great way to keep the community
  38. abreast of what is happening at your school and in each classroom,
  39. this is something that we don't currently use
  40. for our schools and something we should explore.
  41. Facebook and Twitter are great places to start a school website.
  42. How can we increase information too and the involvement of families,
  43. strengthening the home school connection is a topic. We are always thinking about
  44. use C
  45. we use classroom apps or sites to communicate with parents.
  46. Many classrooms use class apps such as class
  47. dojo, Raine
  48. Seesaw and blooms.
  49. These apps are easily accessible to parents on their mobile devices and have
  50. features similar to text messaging that make them user friendly and convenient.
  51. The class
  52. Dojo app we use currently has 100% participation from parents.
  53. As we explore this topic, there are many funding opportunities available.
  54. In Rhode Island. We have a 21st century technology and equipment fund.
  55. This was offered to school districts to
  56. enhance their technology with a focus on stem
  57. programs. During the first year,
  58. the funding included spaces and equipment.
  59. The Rhode Island Department of Education was quoted stating
  60. the fund will support transitions from traditional desk and row
  61. classrooms to flexible 21st century learning spaces to better
  62. serve learners of all abilities backgrounds and learning styles.
  63. In one district, the transformation of classroom spaces included seating.
  64. And design that created a warm inviting environment.
  65. Well equipped for 21st century learning students in this
  66. classroom will have the upgraded technology at their fingertips.
  67. We have an image from East Providence School District,
  68. an early childhood classroom to be specific right here.
  69. And we all know that in our middle school,
  70. we have upgraded one of our classrooms to meet those standards.
  71. Budgeting and funding for technology in integration always need
  72. to be considered as budgets are completed every year.
  73. The line for upgrading technology and equipment needs
  74. to keep up with the times including keeping
  75. teachers and staff up to date on the
  76. ever-changing technology through formal
  77. and informal professional development.
  78. We have to consider how our educators will be
  79. compensated for the time it takes to be lifelong learners
  80. In conclusion,
  81. there are always grants available for technology integration and
  82. equipment upgrades in the state of Rhode Island.
  83. Moving forward,
  84. this needs to be an area that is a
  85. focus to continue the improvements necessary to our schools.
  86. The overall goal
  87. is to enhance our students learning experience and to ensure they
  88. are provided with the most up to date technology and information.
  89. Thank you for listening today and I look
