00:01 - 00:04
Hi my name is Rena Hoffman and today I
00:04 - 00:07
will be presenting my final project for humanity's.
00:07 - 00:11
Um Today I have decided that for the artist I would use,
00:11 - 00:16
it was going to be the artist titled Glenn Hoffman and he also happens to
00:16 - 00:20
be my father um and I look up to him so much as an artist,
00:20 - 00:20
he
00:20 - 00:24
create some really incredible pieces and I was really excited
00:24 - 00:27
at the opportunity to dive into them more and try and
00:27 - 00:29
re create one of his
00:29 - 00:30
in my own style.
00:31 - 00:31
Yeah,
00:31 - 00:36
so who is Glenn Hoffman? He's a man, he's an artist, he's a father, what doesn't he do?
00:36 - 00:37
He's incredible.
00:37 - 00:41
So over here I have one of his pictures um in
00:41 - 00:44
addition to one of my favorite pieces that he's done,
00:44 - 00:47
this is also the piece that I decided to use
00:47 - 00:50
for inspiration for my own peace because I just
00:50 - 00:53
found it so beautiful and so well done.
00:56 - 01:02
So now we have some of Glenn's story. So Glenn was born in 1962 in the Bronx in new york.
01:02 - 01:07
Um He lived an amazing life, had an amazing family, he moved on to Long Beach,
01:07 - 01:08
Long Island when he was a kid.
01:08 - 01:12
Um and when it was time to go to college he decided
01:12 - 01:15
that he wanted to major in business and he went to Oneonta State
01:16 - 01:19
which is in upstate new york and after graduation he
01:19 - 01:23
decided to work at Chase Bank um using his business degree
01:23 - 01:26
and while he was there he decided that that wasn't his
01:26 - 01:29
true passion in life and he decided to pursue art,
01:29 - 01:32
so he went to two different colleges um the
01:32 - 01:36
first one in which he majored in computer science
01:36 - 01:41
And then he went back and he majored in digital media with a concentration in three D.
01:41 - 01:41
Art, which is
01:42 - 01:46
How he creates all of his art today. He created all virtually um using three D.
01:46 - 01:47
Techniques.
01:50 - 01:52
So Glenn's are so right now,
01:52 - 01:56
his main career revolves around designing artistic home theaters.
01:56 - 01:59
Um These are usually very extravagant, very elegant,
01:59 - 02:03
they're absolutely beautiful, I'll have a picture of one on a later slide.
02:03 - 02:07
So most of what he does is designed the acoustic
02:07 - 02:10
panels and the other pieces of art in these theaters.
02:10 - 02:14
But he also does a large number of um custom pieces in
02:14 - 02:18
different styles and his main style right now is art deco,
02:18 - 02:21
but he is well versed, he can do anything.
02:21 - 02:22
Um And yeah,
02:22 - 02:25
like I said he creates all of his are digitally using Photoshop
02:25 - 02:28
and other online tools and utilizes a lot of three D.
02:28 - 02:29
Styles.
02:31 - 02:34
So here's some of his pieces of work in the top left corner,
02:34 - 02:37
you can see one of his home theaters.
02:37 - 02:38
He's done, he's done some really cool ones.
02:38 - 02:42
He's done some space themed wands, they're all literally incredible,
02:42 - 02:46
I want one of them in my house but that's unrealistic but anyways I digress.
02:46 - 02:49
Um we also see a few of his other pieces,
02:49 - 02:53
these are kind of the main style that I modeled mine after, You can see the three D.
02:53 - 02:54
Techniques in like
02:55 - 02:57
whatever was the focus of it and they're
02:57 - 03:00
all very vibrant colors and absolutely beautiful.
03:00 - 03:01
I'm in love with his art.
03:03 - 03:03
Mhm.
03:04 - 03:07
So from his art I took inspiration from my own um
03:07 - 03:11
the specific piece was the piece titled Leaves are Falling,
03:11 - 03:12
which is what was on the initial slide.
03:12 - 03:16
Um And in my own piece, I tried to incorporate similar symbolism.
03:16 - 03:21
I also made monetary artistic techniques, which I did by using Photoshop,
03:21 - 03:23
which is what he uses and use of color.
03:23 - 03:26
I tried to make it vibrant and beautiful and happy looking.
03:27 - 03:31
Um Yeah, like I said to the song Photoshop, which is what my dad uses.
03:32 - 03:36
So here we have the piece that I did, I titled the Tree of Life just because
03:37 - 03:38
you know, I thought it was very symbolic.
03:38 - 03:40
Um He's my father,
03:40 - 03:45
he is my life source and also it's based off of his painting which is of a tree.
03:45 - 03:48
So here we can see, I tried to use his three D.
03:48 - 03:50
Techniques and making the grass seems like it's in front of
03:50 - 03:52
the tree and the tree in front of the clouds.
03:52 - 03:54
And I tried to use similar style in
03:55 - 03:58
how he kind of makes it like kind of modern, like it doesn't, it looks like a tree,
03:58 - 04:01
but then the leaves are kind of like funky as well as the sun.
04:01 - 04:04
Um I took that inspiration from him directly and
04:04 - 04:05
I'm really happy with how it came out,
04:05 - 04:09
obviously it's not as good as his, but I'm still very proud of my work
04:10 - 04:14
now. In conclusion. Um I did find the process to be somewhat simple.
04:14 - 04:17
I was really, really lucky to have my dad be able to help me.
04:17 - 04:23
He kind of guided me through how to use Photoshop and um like how to create art,
04:23 - 04:25
and like, he taught me about
04:25 - 04:27
how he gets the inspiration from his,
04:27 - 04:30
he's never really have any type of deep meaning.
04:30 - 04:34
Um it just kind of like whatever pops into his head. He likes to doodle as he'll say.
04:35 - 04:37
Um it was really, really lucky to,
04:37 - 04:40
I was really lucky to be able to learn from him and I had a
04:40 - 04:44
really good time being able to connect with him on this part of his life
04:44 - 04:49
and create my own art. So yeah, that's my project. Thank you so much for listening.
04:49 - 04:53
I hope you love his art and I hope you like mine.
04:53 - 04:56
I won't say love because that's a little extreme. But yeah, thank you so much
