00:00 - 00:04
Hello, my name is Lauren Hall and I'm applying for the Lebow internship position.
00:04 - 00:09
Um This video is first talk a little bit about myself and second I would like
00:09 - 00:12
to discuss my background a little bit just so you can get to know me better.
00:12 - 00:16
Um I am applying for the Lebow internship position because
00:16 - 00:19
I have participated in the labor program before um in
00:19 - 00:23
high school when I studied abroad in Japan and it
00:23 - 00:25
was one of the best experiences that I've had.
00:25 - 00:29
Um I really liked the program that Lebow had with the students and
00:29 - 00:32
to be a part of it would just be an amazing experience.
00:32 - 00:33
But I'd love to contribute to.
00:34 - 00:36
I love the opportunity to learn things that I
00:36 - 00:38
didn't get the chance to learn previously when I was
00:38 - 00:41
there and also I love to travel and I think
00:41 - 00:42
that it would be a wonderful opportunity to do.
00:42 - 00:43
So
00:44 - 00:47
I will discuss more about myself in the coming video.
00:47 - 00:52
So for now I'd really like to move on to my family background.
00:54 - 00:56
So this is my family tree.
00:56 - 00:59
It's a little bit confusing because I have a very big family.
01:00 - 01:03
So let's just dive into it and see what happens.
01:09 - 01:11
So first of course
01:11 - 01:12
there's me
01:12 - 01:15
And I am 24 years old.
01:15 - 01:18
I am from the United States of America and
01:18 - 01:22
currently I am in graduate school for linguistics.
01:22 - 01:24
I'm in my master's degree right now,
01:24 - 01:28
I've already completed my bachelor's degree and I love learning about other
01:28 - 01:31
languages and other cultures and traveling to get to see them.
01:34 - 01:37
I was born in a town called Nashville Tennessee.
01:37 - 01:41
It's known as music city because there are so many musicians that come from there.
01:42 - 01:47
I didn't live in the big city part of it. My family actually now has a small farm
01:47 - 01:52
um but it was a wonderful experience to be close to the city and have access to it,
01:52 - 01:55
but not necessarily be in the big city.
01:55 - 01:59
I did move around a lot just because of my big family.
01:59 - 02:02
Um I now actually live in Lynchburg Virginia,
02:02 - 02:05
which you can see in this picture right here.
02:06 - 02:10
It is about eight hours away from my family who still lives in Tennessee.
02:10 - 02:11
I miss them a lot
02:12 - 02:16
but I'm excited to see what kind of adventures life has in store.
02:21 - 02:23
I love trying new things.
02:23 - 02:28
My hobbies include taking pictures especially of nature, like this.
02:28 - 02:30
Picture of the butterfly that I took on a flower.
02:31 - 02:34
I love taking pictures of plants and the sunset and the ocean.
02:35 - 02:40
I also like playing sports and being engaged in tennis and fencing.
02:40 - 02:44
Occasionally I also go kayaking and hiking when the weather is nice
02:45 - 02:50
at home. I love to do art, I like painting and doing crafts, like scrapbooks.
02:55 - 03:00
Some of my favorite things are my favorite food is crammed brulee,
03:00 - 03:03
which is a sweet pudding type of food.
03:03 - 03:04
My favorite color
03:05 - 03:10
is green, I love plants and I grow many in my house
03:10 - 03:14
at home. My favorite thing to do is read fantasy books
03:14 - 03:17
with my cats cuddling beside me.
03:18 - 03:19
Here are pictures of them.
03:19 - 03:21
The Brown one is named Kinder
03:22 - 03:24
And the black and white one is named Oreo.
03:25 - 03:27
You can tell I like sweets.
03:27 - 03:32
My favorite animal though is a jellyfish, but I don't think I want one as a pet.
03:35 - 03:40
So that's me. And now I'm going to talk a little bit more about my family,
03:40 - 03:43
including my siblings and my parents.
03:46 - 03:54
So you can see me right here and up in the yellow is my dad and the red is my mom.
03:55 - 03:57
They aren't married anymore,
03:57 - 04:02
they divorced but that's okay because I have two more wonderful parents,
04:03 - 04:09
I had to and they divorced and I got two more. So my mom is now married to my stepdad
04:09 - 04:12
and my dad is now married to my step mom
04:13 - 04:16
and I have siblings on both sides.
04:16 - 04:19
So I'm going to try to explain my family a little bit
04:19 - 04:22
because I love them all very much and they're all very interesting.
04:23 - 04:27
So without further ado, we'll start with my mom Shannon.
04:32 - 04:33
This is my mom Shannon,
04:34 - 04:36
She is 55 years old
04:36 - 04:39
and she likes to make quilts for fun.
04:40 - 04:42
She loves animals. She has
04:42 - 04:44
three dogs
04:44 - 04:47
two cats and a lot of chickens.
04:48 - 04:50
Here are some of the quilts that she has made.
04:51 - 04:54
You can see that she likes bright colors
04:55 - 05:00
and you can even see her dog and cat in some of the pictures,
05:02 - 05:04
I love my mom very much
05:07 - 05:10
and next we'll talk about my dad, his name is Donny.
05:12 - 05:13
So here is my dad, Donnie,
05:14 - 05:16
He is 57 years old,
05:17 - 05:20
he is a basketball coach at a university
05:21 - 05:24
and he also runs a small theater company.
05:25 - 05:27
His hobbies are reading books,
05:27 - 05:28
running
05:28 - 05:31
acting and telling jokes
05:31 - 05:34
but not all of his jokes are that funny
05:35 - 05:38
here. You can see him in a picture with my mom Martha.
05:40 - 05:44
Remember I have two moms and two dads so it can be a little confusing.
05:47 - 05:54
Next we're going to talk about my stepdad. So my mom and my stepdad are married.
05:56 - 06:00
So this is my stepdad eric, I still call him my dad,
06:00 - 06:03
he's been in my life since I was very little
06:03 - 06:05
since I was six years old.
06:06 - 06:09
He is a businessman and he travels a lot
06:11 - 06:17
and then my dad is married to my stepmom Martha. So I'm gonna talk about her too.
06:19 - 06:21
This is my step mom Martha.
06:21 - 06:26
I call her my Mama. She is 56 years old and she is a lot of fun.
06:26 - 06:30
She is a play director and an actress and she
06:31 - 06:33
plans events for the city that she lives in.
06:34 - 06:36
Here are some pictures of her acting
06:37 - 06:38
here,
06:38 - 06:41
you can see her as Ursula from the Little mermaid
06:41 - 06:44
and even mrs Potts from Beauty and the Beast.
06:44 - 06:48
She does many kinds of roles and she looks very different every time.
06:50 - 06:53
My mama hasn't been in my life but a couple of years
06:53 - 06:56
now but she is so fun and I love her a lot.
06:59 - 07:01
So those are my four parents.
07:01 - 07:07
Now I'm going to talk to you about my siblings, I have four siblings too.
07:07 - 07:10
First we'll talk about my little sister
07:10 - 07:10
Delaney.
07:13 - 07:17
So this is Delaney, she is 16 years old and she is in high school,
07:18 - 07:22
she is part of her theater club so she loves dressing up and singing.
07:26 - 07:29
My Stepdad. Eric has two other Children.
07:30 - 07:30
His
07:30 - 07:33
eldest child is named jennifer.
07:33 - 07:38
We call her jenny, she is 40 years old and she already has a son
07:38 - 07:39
my nephew
07:39 - 07:42
and his name is Aiden, you can see him
07:42 - 07:43
right here.
07:46 - 07:49
Eric also has another child, my stepbrother
07:49 - 07:51
Christopher, we call him chris,
07:52 - 07:55
He's Eric's son and he is 39 years old.
07:55 - 07:59
He is married to my sister in law lisa and they have a daughter,
07:59 - 08:01
my niece named lily
08:01 - 08:05
and they're actually expecting another baby very soon.
08:05 - 08:08
But we don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet.
08:10 - 08:12
And then last but not least
08:12 - 08:15
is my other sister Chelsea,
08:16 - 08:18
she is Donnie's other daughter.
08:18 - 08:25
So Delaney, jenny and chris are all eric's Children and Chelsea is Donnie's child.
08:25 - 08:27
It could be a little confusing,
08:29 - 08:31
this is my big sister Chelsea,
08:31 - 08:35
she is 28 years old and like I said she is Donny's daughter,
08:35 - 08:38
she is a basketball coach at a college
08:38 - 08:42
and she married my brother in law. His name is brock.
08:42 - 08:44
They have two dogs,
08:44 - 08:47
I don't get to see them very often since we live far
08:47 - 08:49
away but I miss them and I love them a lot.
08:53 - 08:55
So that's my family.
08:55 - 08:56
It can be a little confusing,
08:56 - 09:00
but I love them all so much and I wouldn't have it any other way.
09:04 - 09:08
So that's my family, that's a little bit about me.
09:08 - 09:12
Um I would really like to now discuss why I'm
09:12 - 09:14
applying for the lava program just a little bit more.
09:15 - 09:16
Um, as I said,
09:16 - 09:20
I'm applying for the labo internship position because I have previously
09:20 - 09:23
traveled to Japan and I think that it was a wonderful experience
09:23 - 09:25
and I'd love to
09:25 - 09:29
see what new experiences I could gain as well as you know what,
09:29 - 09:33
I might be able to contribute to the program if I were selected
09:34 - 09:37
and if I am given this opportunity I would first of
09:37 - 09:40
all be very grateful to be able to learn what I
09:40 - 09:44
can from this position as well as to study things that
09:44 - 09:47
I didn't get to previously when I was in Japan,
09:47 - 09:49
Um one of those things is Ikebana.
09:50 - 09:53
Every time I went to my train station in Chiba,
09:54 - 09:57
there was always a new display of Ikebana and I always
09:57 - 10:00
took pictures of it because I thought it was so wonderful
10:00 - 10:02
and when I came back to the United States,
10:03 - 10:10
I made my own presentation for my school about Ikebana and the math that goes into it.
10:10 - 10:14
If you ask me now, I probably still couldn't make one very well though.
10:14 - 10:20
So I would love to be able to experience it hands on and learn to do Ikebana myself.
10:21 - 10:23
I think that there are so many aspects of japanese culture that I
10:23 - 10:27
didn't get to experience last time due to my short stay over the summer
10:28 - 10:31
that I would love to be able to experience in more depth
10:31 - 10:32
As well as just two
10:33 - 10:36
take on a new role and see what I might
10:36 - 10:40
be able to learn and experience with this new opportunity.
10:40 - 10:43
I'd like to thank you all so much for your time
10:43 - 10:46
and learning a little bit about me and my background.
10:46 - 10:52
I hope it wasn't too confusing and I hope to hear from you soon have a wonderful day.
