Hello class.
My name is Christine Simpson and I've been a student here at embry riddle since 2012.
I've been in the United States Army since I was 18 years old.
Currently I have 18 years experience in the military or in the army.
Of those 18 years. 10 of it was as an HR sergeant.
Um During my time as an HR sergeant, I've worked in hiring boards,
I've learned how to staff,
I've worked benefits,
I've worked promotions demotions and have also dealt with personal issues
just last year. Um I converted over to something called a warrant officer.
I know air force doesn't use don't use them but I know that the navy does.
So what this has done is it's taken my baseline knowledge that
I've gained over the past 10 years and is having me use that
as
allegedly a subject matter expert but we all know you can't do that overnight
but I'm supposed to take my foundational knowledge and use it as
a at a strategic level basically assist the officers in making decisions.
My job now is a more strategic way of thinking. I'm supposed to monitor trends.
Um use my foundational knowledge to try to fix those trends or
get them in the correct way that the command wants them.
And it's ah
it's a bit challenging from going from a button
pusher to now strategic thinking but it's it's it's
been fun and I've been very fortunate I have
a very good team and really good leadership and hopefully
this class will also help benefit me in the future
for any hiring boards that I might be a part
of or staffing issues because that definitely is in line
with what a warrant officer does in the National Guard.

that's about it for me, there's not much,
I have pretty much had one job my entire life, but I am looking forward to this class.
