  1. Hi, everyone.
  2. My name is Rebecca McIntosh.
  3. Y'all can actually call me Becca.
  4. I just wanted to go ahead and create a video
  5. for you all to give you all some more information
  6. about what to expect on clinic ALS on Wednesday.
  7. Coming up.
  8. So again, My name is Rebecca.
  9. Macintosh. Um, y'all can call me Becca.
  10. I have been with working with Wellstar for 10 years.
  11. Most of that has been eight years in cardiovascular.
  12. I see you at kind of stone on the third
  13. floor, so I have a lot of cardiac experience on
  14. I'm actually, I am a staff nurse, so I can
  15. definitely tell y'all give a lot of in sight as
  16. to what nurses go through.
  17. Andi, I've been teaching for a year I was teaching
  18. with for now, but I recently transferred with Kennesaw State
  19. on, but I'm very excited to be working with you
  20. all. So for the first day, our first day is
  21. going to be this Wednesday.
  22. Um, you will need to park in the employee parking
  23. deck, which is on the north, located on North Avenue.
  24. It is also the same parking area for the health
  25. place. So you'll also see signs for employees and the
  26. health place.
  27. You do not need your badge to get in if
  28. you're arriving after 6 a.m. Because tha gate should be
  29. up are the arm should be up, so you shouldn't
  30. need your badge to access the parking deck.
  31. Once you have part, you will need to meet me
  32. in the lips and center in the blue tower at
  33. 6 30.
  34. Highly recommend getting to the hospital early so that you
  35. can park and it is kind of a hike.
  36. Talk from the parking bet to the lips and center.
  37. There's only one access point for staff members to enter
  38. the hospital, so, honestly, just follow everyone that's going into
  39. the same location.
  40. You'll have to go through the tunnel.
  41. And then from there you'll have thio locate the blue
  42. tower and the lips and centers on the first floor
  43. of the blue tower, and there should be signs, Help
  44. navigate or you can ask someone.
  45. So please be there At 6 30 I will be
  46. arriving at 6 a.m. To make patient assignments.
  47. We will be meeting at 6 30 so that we
  48. can walk up together and so that you all could
  49. be ready to listen in on report for your patient
  50. at 6 45.
  51. Little note about arriving.
  52. Please do not come if you are not feeling well,
  53. even if it's not covert related.
  54. If you think that it's potentially infectious to others, please
  55. give me a call.
  56. I know you are very excited to be in clinical
  57. tze with patients.
  58. However, we do not want to get them sick or
  59. staff members, so it's very important.
  60. If you think you are sick of any that's infectious
  61. in any way, please call me.
  62. Okay, they will be screening you, most likely when you
  63. come in so they'll be taking your temperature.
  64. Um, again, even if you don't have a fever.
  65. If you're not feeling well and you think it's infectious,
  66. please call me.
  67. So masked mask must be worn at all times while
  68. in Kenneth Stone and when you are caring for patients,
  69. you need to wear protective ice shields and those should
  70. be provided to you.
  71. Well, start does not recognize cloth mask.
  72. You can definitely wear it when you're entering the building
  73. from the parking lot.
  74. However, once you are around staff members or patients you
  75. know, working in the hospital or even walking through the
  76. hospital, you will need to switch to a surgical mask
  77. and you will need to use the same surgical mask
  78. for the entire day.
  79. Eso try to use the same one.
  80. However, if it gets a little nasty that's okay.
  81. We can get you a new one.
  82. Um, but again, you'll need to wear a surgical mask
  83. when in the facilities.
  84. And the ice feels when you're around patients.
  85. Yeah. So patients.
  86. So you will all be receiving a patient assignment.
  87. That patient is what you will be.
  88. Their information will be what you will.
  89. You will be using Thio complete your doctor care assignment
  90. in your care plans.
  91. In order to do that, you will need to get
  92. access for epic one note.
  93. I will say If you are well star employee, please
  94. do not use your employee log in in orderto access
  95. epic. That should only be for when you are working.
  96. Okay, not as a student.
  97. I know that you can use the read only access.
  98. However, I do not want you to get into trouble
  99. as an employee.
  100. So because of that, because students are not allowed to
  101. have access toe epic.
  102. You will be using my access toe epic.
  103. If you're nurses kind enough for you to look up
  104. the information.
  105. That's that's great.
  106. However, I don't want it to be a burden for
  107. them because they already have so much to dio.
  108. So just come find me if you have some time,
  109. um, and use my log in to get that information
  110. about your patient.
  111. So, speaking of epic, we need to talk about HIPPA.
  112. You should only be using the epic, which is my
  113. epic log in to access your patients information.
  114. You should not be using it for a family members
  115. toe access, a family members chart or just someone that
  116. you know off street.
  117. Um, we could get into trouble for that.
  118. And just remember, you will be using my log in
  119. on DSO I could get into trouble for that s
  120. o again when you're using my log in or even
  121. your nurses.
  122. Um, if they're letting you look at their chart, please
  123. Onley, Look at your patients information.
  124. Another thing about hip.
  125. Please do not take pictures of your patient's chart.
  126. Okay? Again, I will say that because this is so
  127. important. That is a huge HIPAA violation.
  128. If I see you doing that, I will send you
  129. home. And that will be something we will have to
  130. take disciplinary action for because you could get into a
  131. lot of trouble for that.
  132. And speaking of photos, you really should not.
  133. Please do not take any pictures while you are on
  134. the unit.
  135. I know you're excited.
  136. You want to capture the moment.
  137. However, you don't know who could be in the picture.
  138. And we don't want to break any HIPPA violations.
  139. So while you are on the unit, no camera uses.
  140. I know we all have cameras on our cell phones.
  141. Please do not use it to take a picture of
  142. yourself because you don't know what's in their eso again.
  143. Um, no picture taking whatsoever on the unit.
  144. Plan to bring pen and paper so that you can
  145. write down a ton of information about your patient dress
  146. code. Biggest thing I will say about that.
  147. Make sure that you look professional.
  148. You should be wearing your case.
  149. You scrubs, you can bring a black jacket.
  150. It does get cold and hospitals a lot, eh?
  151. So you can definitely bring that.
  152. Make sure that there are no face or net tattoos.
  153. Really? All tattoos should be hidden.
  154. I know.
  155. For arms you can use like long sleep shirts.
  156. Um, because people want to see you looking professionals.
  157. So make sure that you take a shower.
  158. You come your hair, make sure your hair is pulled
  159. back. The biggest thing that I will be looking at,
  160. especially with ladies, please make sure that you don't have
  161. long acrylic nails.
  162. Those do harbor bacteria, and we do not want to
  163. spread more infection that's already going through hospital.
  164. So again, please keep your nails trimmed and short on
  165. DNO chipped nail polish i d badges.
  166. Those air typically done Monday through Friday 7 to 5,
  167. and those are taking place in the Security Department, which
  168. is located in the emergency department in the new huge
  169. emergency facility.
  170. If you are able to g o Monday or Tuesday
  171. before we meet on Wednesday, that would be wonderful.
  172. That way you will not have to miss any clinic
  173. time on the floor while we're there Wednesday.
  174. However, if you do not have time to G O
  175. on Monday or Tuesday, I totally understand that.
  176. So we will be able to make time for that,
  177. please, when you go to get your badge.
  178. If you go either Monday or Tuesday or on Wednesday,
  179. please bring a driver's license and information about or photo
  180. I. D and your information about your flu vaccine because
  181. they will put a little sticker on your badge indicating
  182. that you've had the flu vaccine, which is required for
  183. every staff member.
  184. What to bring.
  185. Besides your badge?
  186. Um, try to bring us little as possible.
  187. I don't know how much space we're gonna have to
  188. store stuff, and I don't know how secure it's going
  189. to be.
  190. So please do not bring any laptops.
  191. Barney Tablet.
  192. Um, e I would definitely bring pen and paper, possibly
  193. clipboards, that you can write on, um, also bringing a
  194. drug guide and also a care plan book so you
  195. can start thinking about what you want to write for
  196. your care plans, and we will definitely talk about that.
  197. So make sure you bring that information.
  198. Bring either something to eat or some lunch money so
  199. that you can buy lunch in the cafeteria.
  200. Um, but like I said, please try to bring us
  201. little a ce possible just because I don't know how
  202. much space we're gonna have or if it's going to
  203. be safe.
  204. Cell phones.
  205. I know everyone has a smartphone.
  206. Um, the only thing I will say about that I
  207. definitely do not want to see you using your cell
  208. phone in a patient's room that is insanely unprofessional.
  209. It's rude, and I promise they will say something about
  210. it if you want.
  211. Once you're outside of a patient's room, if you want
  212. to use it, um, preferably not in front of other
  213. staff members because they don't like to see students on
  214. their phone.
  215. Um, if you want to use it to look up
  216. something real quick, though, try to do it where no
  217. one can see you.
  218. You should not be using your phone to play candy,
  219. crush or access Facebook.
  220. We're here to help them help staff members, and you
  221. should not be using your cell phones.
  222. Um, if you can't find something to Dio, I will
  223. more than likely find you something to Dio and um
  224. along those lines.
  225. This'll whole process with learning and getting back toe learning
  226. during co vid.
  227. It's definitely been frustrating.
  228. You have to also remember that the staff members at
  229. Wellstar are burnt out, too, so anything we can do
  230. to help them, I know that you want to do
  231. nursing stuff.
  232. However, please know that while we're there, toe learn, you
  233. can definitely learn if you're just doing a simple task
  234. like taking ah, blood pressure or checking a blood sugar.
  235. I know those are not usually tasks that nurses do
  236. it. However they do do it.
  237. I do it pretty often as a nurse.
  238. Actually, eso anything you can do to help the staff
  239. members would be greatly appreciated, and that will make them
  240. want us to come back and create more learning opportunities
  241. for you and for future students.
  242. If you have any questions, any non urgent issues, please
  243. email me.
  244. However, if it's a urgent issue, please call me or
  245. text me at 6784140647 That is my cell phone number.
  246. It's the best way to get in touch of May
  247. for urgent issues again.
  248. 900 Urgent issues like assignment, due dates or assignment requirements.
  249. Please email me.
  250. However, if it's an urgent issue.
  251. Please call her.
  252. Text me.
  253. I am very excited to be working with you all.
  254. And I hope we have a great learning experience together.
  255. Looking forward to seeing talk to you soon.
  256. Bye.
