  1. Well, good morning.
  2. This is the first Tuesday after Easter and just reading
  3. today in this last two chapters of the Book of
  4. John just still with Eastern Mind.
  5. And this past Sunday, we talked about this idea of
  6. of this encounter how encounters have transformed our lives and
  7. how once we've encountered Christ and his grace and mercy
  8. will never be able to be the same.
  9. We know that.
  10. You know, not everyone really is able to believe that
  11. that level and that death at times, uh, without experiencing
  12. some doubt.
  13. And we all experienced out this morning I was reading
  14. from John Chapter 20 starting with Verse 24.
  15. And it says now Thomas, who is also known as
  16. Didymus. One of the 12 was not with the disciples
  17. when Jesus came, this was after his resurrection says the
  18. disciples appeared, or Jesus appeared to the disciples.
  19. So the other disciples told him we have seen the
  20. Lord, but he said to them unless I see the
  21. nail marks in his hands and put my finger where
  22. the nails were and put my hand into his side,
  23. I will not believe.
  24. A week later, his disciple here in the house again,
  25. and Thomas was with them.
  26. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among
  27. them and said, Peace be to you.
  28. Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here, see
  29. my hands, reach out your hand and put it into
  30. my son.
  31. Stop doubting and believe.
  32. And Thomas said to him, My lord and my God,
  33. then Jesus said to him, Because you have seen me,
  34. you have believed Let's There are those who have not
  35. seen and yet have believed you know so much at
  36. this time of year we take for granted.
  37. Eastern. We just assumed that everyone who comes beliefs without
  38. really any struggle and we believe that she's, you know,
  39. came and lived and and I think most people do
  40. believe that and, uh, and and that he was executed
  41. by the Romans.
  42. I think most people believe that.
  43. But when it comes to him being raised from the
  44. dead and his resurrection, that's where people struggle with doubt
  45. because it doesn't seem logical.
  46. And there's anything.
  47. Obviously you should know is that you know, if you're
  48. trying to make your faith in some ways seem logical,
  49. that's just not going to work.
  50. Faith is not about logic.
  51. Faith is called faith for a reason.
  52. And I like Thomas.
  53. Um, and I think we're all a lot more like
  54. Thomas than we are.
  55. You know, someone who can just believe with outside We
  56. would love to be able to say what Thomas said.
  57. Well, if I could touch the nail scars in his
  58. hands and his side, then I be able to believe
  59. so many of us, you know, we think this way
  60. this way.
  61. Um, it would be so much easier for us to
  62. truly believe the Easter story and place our faith and
  63. our trust in Christ.
  64. If if we could If we could do that very
  65. thing, put our you know, our hands in in the
  66. nail scars on his hands and his side Put our
  67. fingers there and and to see the Lord, you know
  68. that you know, so many people over at 40 day,
  69. period after his resurrection, where he was still on the
  70. earth before his ascension.
  71. Got to see Jesus.
  72. And that's one of the reasons why you know, the
  73. belief in Jesus really, really grew over those 40 years.
  74. And when he ascended into heaven.
  75. People were ready to birth the church.
  76. The disciples were ready to spread his name all over
  77. the earth.
  78. But it was this proof that they had that dispelled
  79. all of their doubt.
  80. I'm I'm encouraged today, 2000 years later, Uh, we're not
  81. going to have that opportunity to see him in the
  82. flesh to touch his scars on his hands on the
  83. side. But I'm encouraged just by this statement says.
  84. Blessed are those who have not yet seen and yet
  85. have believed.
  86. That's all of us.
  87. We're the ones who have not yet seen and yet
  88. believe in.
  89. The Bible says We're blessed that which means that God's
  90. favor rests upon us.
  91. And so I want that to be an encouragement to
  92. each of us today.
  93. If we truly believe in the resurrection, there were Easter
  94. people or followers of Christ.
  95. Then we can know without a without a shadow of
  96. a doubt that we have God's favors upon us because
  97. we don't believe because we have believed would say, John
  98. John, 3 16 for God so loved the world that
  99. he gave his one and only son that whoever believes
  100. should not perish.
  101. But have everlasting life.
  102. So today we can be certain that we won't perish
  103. eternally. But we're gonna have everlasting life with Christ in
  104. eternity. What a wonderful promise that we can.
  105. We can just rest on today.
  106. And so that's my encouragement to you.
  107. If you believe If you're if you're a follower of
  108. Christ, then then we're blessed.
  109. You and I are blessed because we believe that we
  110. are what we haven't seen.
  111. And if you're doubting today, that's OK too, because one
  112. of his disciples doubt and And they had to wait
  113. until Jesus revealed himself.
  114. And I'll be continued to pray that those of you
  115. who who are doubting today that God will reveal himself
  116. to you.
  117. Father God, today we were thankful for this wonderful Easter
  118. celebration we have this past weekend.
  119. We're just for this this week that comes after and
  120. just the, um the peace and comfort that we've experienced
  121. from your your promises and celebrating the resurrection.
  122. What a prayer for anyone's listening today if they're doubting,
  123. help them to know they're not alone.
  124. Even one of your disciples doubted and refused to believe
  125. until he could see you face to face and and
  126. see your scars.
  127. Um, see, you're resurrected body.
  128. And so to doubt us is not something that is
  129. considered a horrible thing.
  130. And God's, uh, in God's mind.
  131. But it does say that we are favored if we're
  132. able to believe.
  133. And what we haven't seen it.
  134. So let's pray that, Lord, when doubts creep up, just
  135. continue to remind is the promises you made and and
  136. the way that you've always been faithful in our lives.
  137. Lord, go with us today.
  138. May other people see you alive in us.
  139. See your resurrection alive Enough.
  140. The faith that we have in you alive in us
  141. today we pray this in Jesus' name.
  142. Amen. Well, grace and peace have a wonderful day.
